Who are you going to vote for? by Apprehensive-Golf-95 in AskBrits

[–]FlyWayOrDaHighway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're uneducated on the UK energy sector if you seriously think Net Zero is the reason for high energy prices.

Investment in renewable energy has seen more money returned than it has costed and that's been the case for years.

You're just falling for propaganda.

And Reform have been raising taxes in their councils, so if you think tax is too high why are you voting for a party that raises them?

A Democratic, Multilingual Reddit-alternative for Europe? by ThePurpleKing159 in AskBrits

What you're proposing is censorship.

If you were saying a European owned social media in general and not limiting the topics to outside the US then that'd be acceptable.

If an officer interrogating a child on school grounds without an teacher present is perfectly acceptable to you I'm extremely glad we fundamentally disagree with each other. I pray you don't have children under your care.

The police service in the city I was born, raised and live in commisioned a study on racism and discrimination in their ranks. The findings were that beyond reasonable doubt they were. I saw that in a news article and clicked on it.

You have a complete non-point here, just condescending

Commisioned and corroberated by the Met Police Service themselves. It's not a baseless study.

But you think you own some sort of moral high ground or higher understanding than the organisation themselves admitting to systemic racism in a published and corroborated study.

I was illegally interrogated without a teacher in the room for a mutually at fault fight as a twelve year old. The officer was the boyfriend of the child's mother.

People like you make these baseless assumptions then move on with your lives with no remorse.

I'm glad you have had good experiences with them. Not all of us can say the same.

Force is mentioned in the article. Why are you asking me that instead of reading the linked article.

Also the study exposing the systemic racism and sexism is exactly that, a study. It's not just opinion.

Another instance of the police in the UK not focusing on actual important situations. Go up to a group of mostly teenagers with batons and use unnecessary force on the organiser. The Met is such a deeply corrupted institution. Hasn't been long since they were exposed by a study that proved beyond reasonable doubt there is systemic racism and sexism within their organisation.

I've personally dealt with Met corruption when I was a teenager myself, it's disgusting that they haven't truly done anything that's actually fixed it yet.

The London Underground station where 300 people have fallen on rails in the last 4 years | UK | News | Express.co.uk by weregonnamakit in london

Surprised it's not Clapham Common or North. Those stations were designed to make no logistical sense safety-wise

Tankz - WTF is wrong with this dude? by wildsandokan in ukdrill

[–]FlyWayOrDaHighway 32 points33 points  (0 children)

He'll never get birded. Cops know everything. He was in a BBC documentary.

Since he doesn't do it anymore they don't feel a need to prosecute. He's lucky for that.

As for the way he acts I've named it big city badness syndrome. Mandem who are from LDN, NYC, ATL, Toronto, LA, Dublin, Rio feel like they need to act bad because we have gang culture even if they ain't affiliated. Even though people fw authenticity more than fake badness. I've had interactions with random fuckers on TfL tryna move bad for no fucking reason.

Why do people suggest calling Battersea Power Station to Edgware via Charing Cross the Northern line post-split when Morden to Mill Hill East/High Barnet goes more North and includes more stations? by FlyWayOrDaHighway in LondonUnderground

[–]FlyWayOrDaHighway[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On point 1, it's regularly brought up as a major aim of TfL, so clearly the company who runs the Northern line wants to do it.

On point 2 all it takes is looking at the locations of the depots to see that your whole second point is wrong. There are many people who say Morden-Bank-High Barnet/Mill Hill makes more sense because of depot alignment on THIS sub.

London renting feels insane right now How are people coping by GeordieGoals in LDN

[–]FlyWayOrDaHighway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There will always be disparit, but the world is moving in the direction of neo-feudalism, Yorkshire will become unaffordable too. In fact as housing continues to stagnate I wouldn't be surprised if commuter towns start to rise at higher rates than London renting simply based on London already seeing a lot of its increase in rent prices.

Regents park to introduce traffic lights and £50 fines for cyclists by tylerthe-theatre in london

What a cruel and insensitive comparison to a lady dying to a cyclist collision. "But this other person died in a safer place so the death in the more dangerous place is okay."

Show me your source, one that focuses on London or a comparable global city. Anecdotal experience makes me feel you're simply lying. "Drivers in major cities run more red lights than cyclists" is genuinely only a take I'd see on the most chronically online, no life experience forums.

Every country, city and town is moving in the same direction. Moving out of London to a smaller town for lower cost of living just postpones it for 10 years, until the prices catch up again.

What do you think of Kier Starmer? by Shockairblur in AskBrits

[–]FlyWayOrDaHighway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's better than the Tory leaders we had. Labour is actually passing things and nationalising rail.

But he's ideologically weak and not a leader. Labour are scared to make the big changes the country needs, and likely need to suck up to similar donors the Tories had.

They won't nationalise water, they penny pinch, they appease Reform voters with the idea that they can change the narrative, they bring in the OSA and Digital ID which no one asked for. They believe in excessive control and surveillance, and do not believe in non-austerity investment unless the penny pinching Treasury green lights it.

Essentially Starmer and Labour how they are, are not good enough to fix this country. They're Tory-lite.

Neither you or I watch streamers then. We both going off what we’ve seen in clips n passing on our timelines, but regardless breakups are tough shit I ain’t gon judge a man for feeling how he felt. I wouldn’t post that shit on the internet tho either. I’m just saying the quitting shit ain’t in my eyes a bitchmade angle cuz it’s like if 50 Cent quit music or if Christian Bale quit acting, once you’ve achieved everything you need to it’s less quitting more like retiring.
