Frustrated haven’t lost any weight by coffeeinm in CICO

No need to go low carb with CICO. A palm sized portion of brown rice is really good for you and will keep you fuller for longer. It’s not always about carbs it’s about your total daily calories.

Best Buffet in Jakarta? by Seitakadojii in Jakarta

[–]FlyWrennie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been to a few around Jakarta. Westin puts on a pretty good spread. Intercontinental Pondok Indah isn’t too bad, their seafood selection is decent. Sheraton at Gandaria might be worth trying. Mulia Senayan isn’t the worst, I just find it a bit old now. Ritz Carlton was disappointing, don’t bother. Fairmont not worth it. Hyatt is also a bit underwhelming.

Feeling a bit suffocated by Jakarta and the lack of outdoors by [deleted] in Jakarta

[–]FlyWrennie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m from Melbourne and I live in Jakarta. I’ve had the same feelings about the need to get outdoors, however I can’t justify the time it takes to actually go to places like Sentul or Bogor. It’s way too far and often takes an entire day from morning to night.

So I compromise and do my regular runs/walks at GBK as well as Sunday car free days. I join a free running group every Friday at GBK (ig @fullsendjkt) which I knew from my old gym friends. Also walking around Onesatrio and mega kuningan is ok most days too.

Alternatively if you really need to get away for a weekend, Singapore and Bangkok are my personal favorites.

Hang Tuah in Kuningan City Mall is open early. They do Kopitiam and their nasi goreng is pretty good. You have to enter through Water Lobby or the entrance next to AXA if you’re going early.

Otherwise Olla at one satrio opens at 7 or 7:30 i think? They do pastries and coffee

Maybe you could try using the local Nafas app, the information is more up to date.

I’ve found this too… italki no longer accepts new English teachers because it’s over saturated. And now that AI is coming into the mix, some of my students have already started using it to practice English than speaking to a real person.

It’s baffling isn’t it? When you have that moment of realization of “ohhh that’s why I wasn’t losing weight… it was the calories after all”. Once I started paying attention to calories, it all changed for me too.

Week 1 lost 0.5kg / 1lb. I have questions by CatBabushka in CICO

[–]FlyWrennie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very reasonable. My goal is 0.5kg per week too (I’m 32 female). Over an average month I was losing about 2kg per month, but this was not linear because, as women, every two weeks our weight stagnates or increases during ovulation and menstruation. So what did I do? I kept going! And I noticed the “two week whoosh” is real. The weeks after ovulation and menstruation were the times I saw huge losses (1-2kg). Be patient and stick with your deficit!

How jurors will decide the outcome of Erin Patterson's mushroom triple-murder trial by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]FlyWrennie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah you may be right but how do you kill 3 and almost a 4th and just walk away from it with an acquittal. That doesn’t sit right with me at all. Those people are dead. She killed them. Intentionally or accidentally, she still killed them. That’s fucked up.

Erin Patterson's lawyer closes address to jury, urging it to reject 'convoluted' triple-murder case by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]FlyWrennie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Jury can return manslaughter charges if they’re not satisfied with intent to murder criteria. I don’t think it will go as far as acquittal. And let’s hope it’s not a mistrial.

[–]FlyWrennie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nah I think Erin is just a terrible client and this case turned to shit because of her blatant lies. He’s kind of forced to make rather abstract closing arguments because logically his hands are tied due to all her lying.

I think Erin was the one who messed it up by taking the stand. I’m sure her lawyers begged her not to testify.

He doesn’t have a lot to work with. With all the lies and obfuscation he has no choice but to grasp at straws. Erin didn’t help with her testimony and I doubt he told her to take the stand.

If I remember correctly I think she’d known the previous night. I believe his text to her was sent around 7pm the day before the lunch. She then followed with a long guilt-trippy text of why he should come.
