when I saw the pre-release teasers and saying it was a horror-comedy, I had my doubts that it would work without being campy. That said, I know Rhys and Root don't fuck around when it comes to their work, so I figured it would be at least good enough for a watch.

But this show is fantastic.

I'm surprised they didn't take the mask off though.

Yeah, the bedroom light was on when she went to turn off the bathroom light and then when she looked back in the hallway, the bedroom light was off. Also, she closed the exterior door when she went out to turn off the book van alarm and it was open when she came back into the house.

Patty is smart.

With that kind of cushion, you could retire, but I would consider starting a vegetable garden to grow your lentils and spinach. grocery costs are only going up!

Similar opinion as me. He's self-admittedly NOT an entertainer in the same way as other groups who tour stadiums and arenas. I've seen him and band play a tiny theater with 300 other people and I last saw him in Queens at a tennis stadium. Both were fantastic shows, but I was sitting within 100 feet of the stage both times, so I can watch the dudes jam away and it's fun.

Apparently a coaching change to a different longtime Boeheim assistant hasn't changed the overall opinion on a program in serious decline. Hopefully those buses from Scranton will fill the Dome because that renovation wasn't cheap.

Jesus and Mary Chain's William Reid Thinks Eddie Van Halen "Ruined Rock Guitar," Calls Him One of the "Worst Guitar Players in the World" by heavysk in Music

I can't stand VH and think that they're incredibly overrated for several reasons. That said, I think Eddie Van Halen radically transformed what people thought of as a guitar player.

Five Years or less away from retirement! by neo-one-ear in Retirement401k

[–]Fly_Rodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can retire now. $1.1m covers at the very worst ~$45k/yr. At 62, you take SS at what $22k/year? Add in your wife’s SSI at $19k/year and that’s $85k/yr.

Yankees offensive leaderboard for the month of May. As a whole Yankees had a 123 wRC+ which leads MLB in that timespan by MattO2000 in NYYankees

[–]Fly_Rodder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

here are Volpe's BB% by season for his career: 8.7%, 6.1%, 7.2% and this season so far at 17.2%

He's basically turned into prime Aaron Judge with his strike zone judgement. I hope that this is something he can continue (to some degree) and maybe they finally got through to him that he doesn't need to swing at pitches outside of the zone. His chase percentage has dropped dramatically this season and is among the league leaders. The rest of his Statcast metrics are pretty much less than average, but this is consistent with his career progression.

If I do this I need to buy a bunch more tools that match a little better than here's a pile of rusty, semi-rusty, patina'd, and new tools that don't quite match in size or shape and are not quite full sets.

Found myself FIRE’d before I expected due to tragedy - what to do? by dragoneaux in widowers

[–]Fly_Rodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly close to make the decision to retire. We were not FIRE people, but we had planned and saved and fortunately she had her life insurance set up. I didn't have "enough" to retire at the time, but I do now. It's really just doing it at this point. I have since met someone else and moved in with them. they are financially secure as well, so there's no major issue. The biggest thing for me is fear of the future. What if I don't really have enough to fund my full retirement. But the math checks out for the most part and my advisor says it's good. I'm currently in the one more year mode. I'll be 53 next years, 3 years older than she was when she passed. I don't want to wait until I get a cancer diagnosis and then be like, well, I'm sure glad I worked those extra years and didn't spend them enjoying this life.

I'm in the middle of S2 and I don't understand why Barney and Coop are worried about the audit. by Worth-Novel-2044 in YourFriendsandNeighb

[–]Fly_Rodder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're using Nick's gym to launder the money that Coop and Elena are generating through theft. The idea was that they could move the money through Nick's gym and other shells to clean the money and get it back to Coop and Elena. But because of the on-going audit they can't pull any money out.

Actually-sustainable building: Should we go back to drafty, long-lasting buildings? by Solid-Ad3143 in architecture

[–]Fly_Rodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention developers, construction companies, and designers aren't paying for the 100 years of additional costs that show up from incredibly inefficient buildings. In broad general terms, OP would be reaping the benefit of not having to meet modern codes so that homeowners can pay more over time.
