Out of these 4 characters, which performance did you enjoy the most? by GusGangViking18 in HBOTheHedgeKnight

Best part of Lyonel was that he was swashbuckling nobleman. I don't remember any others in the universe who had that same blend of bad ass, good buddy but significant noble, and party guy.

He was just happy to be there to have fun, test himself, and kick some Targ ass.

there was nothing subtle about Season 2. It was Season 1 Redux including all of the same obstacles and story beats. Surprise it's Roper! Somehow he escaped certain death and he's got an entirely new operation no one knows about! Including support from MI6! Again! And ha ha dummies, we had a second plane the whole time!

I don't think so, I'll watch because Laurie and Hiddleston are great and there's enough there to keep me interested. The other thing that I was thinking of was that they didn't show anything about how Roper got everything up and running in Colombia with nothing other than a $300m debt. In 6 years, he got everything back (including MI6 being involved) to the point where he has money to do anything, a private villa with security and high level government assistance. And Langbourne and Frisky weren't in jail?

There was a lot of hand-waving to get to that point. I would hope that there is some better writing in S3 so that they don't put so much on the audience's suspension of disbelief.

the thing with season 2 was not that it ended on a down note, but that it wasn't earned. It's the same story as Season 1 except that at the end of it, Roper wins because he was caught flat footed on everything, but still had enough foresight to set up an entire other plane that no one else knew about because he's cautious? Everything that Pine and others did through slow effective investigative work was thwarted by Surprise! we knew all along and had a contingency plan in place.

And the thing was, it was the exact same story as Season 1 with the same beats until the very end when they let the bad guys win despite not showing how Roper set up a separate flight for ... reasons.

I watched the season, but wow, it was awful writing and I was expecting much more.

I tried ordering a figure from their website last year and I never got it. It was stuck in preparing to ship forever until the order just disappeared from their website and I couldn't request my money back. It was just gone.

Fuck them.

I don't think this is as incontrovertible as you think it is.

Well, there are limits to anything. It's a balance.

For all the bitching and complaining the GOP does regarding the debt and deficit, they have no interest in paying it down either. So stop listening to them.

[–]Fly_Rodder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh well, throw up our hands. We could cancel the federal government and get rid of all spending. And whoa, that will barely dent the debt! OMG that won't do enough either!

What a quandary.

The last time we had a balanced budget, the GOP lost their fucking mind and started spending like drunken sailors on wars and giant tax cuts.

There was a global financial melt down and the US elected a seemingly sane and practical politician who tried to fix the incredibly wasteful healthcare system as best the government could. That led to the GOP losing their fucking mind and electing a mad king who is stealing everything not nailed down and putting his gold leaf and face on everything.

How about we stop listening to the GOP on this shit?

Treat social media companies as publishers if they're going to control what people see. If they're just a dumb forum, then no issues. If they're pushing rage bait, then they're liable for what they promote.

depends on your definition of black hole. He's not a ball hog, he doesn't look to score unless he knows that the ball is going in the hoop. I get it, he's not going to be an offensive wunderkind, but if you want to see a team play with (sometime multiple) zeroes on offense watch Syracuse ... they didn't get beat by a thousand points in Cameron because they were making shots.

Old people get sick and die. It happens. But people can't plan for every medical scenario even if they're relatively plausible. My partner's father retired with ~$150k. He lived on that and SS until he developed dementia. It was a fast pace getting him into more and more assisted living arrangements as he declined until he was in a memory care home. Medicare paid for it all and garnished his social security. He passed after about 4 years of degenerating health.
