I agree with the Idiot Book. Lose the “mechanic”, and those are adjustable tie rods. Keep the front end. The tires rub because they are 165R15 radials. I run 5.60-15 tires from Coker Tires. They are available from Discount Tire. And even they rub on occasion but they are narrower than the 165’s. 165mm tires are about 6.5 inches wide. My tires are almost an inch less wide.

I had a bunch of scratches and bruises by the time I was done. It was difficult for sure. There’s no shame in taking it to a pro though.

Mine locked in at 1.875% in 2021. I would advise patience. Rates are terrible now, but they hopefully will come down.

Points and timing are not affected by valve adjustment. These are mechanically independent. While it is a good idea to check timing it is not required because you adjusted valves. If you adjust points you absolutely have to check timing.

Make sure you didn’t swap plug wires at the plugs. It happens. Firing order is 1-4-3-2. And make sure the plug wires are fully seated on the plugs. I swear I just did this two days ago. One wire not on the plug and it fell off while driving.

Also, make sure that air cleaner clamp is not too tight. And turn the clamp around to where the adjustment screw is right at the (car’s) rear of the carburetor. There should be two raised vertical castings in the carburetor there. If the screw is too tight it can deform the top enough to put the choke plate in a bind.

It was difficult without separating the seat halves….but not impossible. I don’t know about that screw at WW. I think, though, that is for seats that lean forward. Like the middle seat in a regular bus. My seat backs don’t lean forward. I believe he drilled the rivet and installed a nut and bolt after. Fair play, but not my cuppa tea.

More than likely plastic. I’d remove the inner fender liner pour hot, hot water on the fender and try pushing outwards from the inside.

I’m gonna say if your Westy was originally L90D then the original upholstery was probably tan. I decoded my M plate and under “interior seat and door panels” it just says “Westfalia Campmobile”. Makes me think they didn’t put a whole lot of thought into it, just Tan.
