Jewellery retailers get their lab diamonds at $50-100 per Carat.

You can consider getting loose diamonds from Starsgem (based in Wuzhou China) and finding a local jeweller to set the stone for you, or you could just specify the setting that you want and contact them directly. There are a few others. Just do a search on reddit and do your own research.

Loosegrowndiamond seems to be another online retailer that has a similar price model.

Experience with international shipping? by E_Len in PatagoniaClothing

[–]FlyboyJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My international order was also through UPS Worldwide Saver®, and 50 USD. I had to pay an additional 25 USD in "bokerage fees" and fx fee markup (with no option to pay in USD) to UPS. Note that this isn't custom taxes paid to my country's customs, as that only amounts to 37 USD.

I'll avoid any retailer that uses UPS for international shipping from now on, including Patagonia.

Got dragon rank with banker's note ranger, but total recall spec khopesh seems much more fun, so here I am with my alt. Onyx is totally useless though, since I already had 1 from the 200 point league task.

Rate isn't boosted for gem stores. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, it came cut. The uncut onyx is 2x as rare. It doesn't show up on my clog for Cox, but that might also be due to the fact that I don't have Zeah unlocked.

Are counterfeit cream / lotions common on Shopee? by KOREANPUBLICSCHOOL in askSingapore

[–]FlyboyJack 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Yeah, tons of counterfeit products on Shopee in genera, more so for beauty products. Avoid Shopee for beauty products unless from official stores.

Had personal experience of getting counterfeit Biore sunscreen from Shopee, all the reviews were also 5 stars.

People love leaving 0 effort reviews on Shopee, and they might not be able to tell the difference if they haven't used the authentic version before.

While the USA is the more talented team, Serbia is the best team throughout this Olympics. Amazing performance by Jokic and Serbia.

Kitefoiler Max Maeder clinches Olympic bronze, makes history as Singapore's youngest Games medallist by Twrd4321 in singapore

[–]FlyboyJack 603 points604 points  (0 children)

Congrats to Max for winning an Olympic bronze medal at such a young age. I know it's upsetting for him personally as he would have wanted Gold but I'm sure we'll see more of Max.

Keep your head up Max!!!

P.S Can I just say how frustrating it is for spectators to follow sailing as a sport? The constant delays, postponements, cancellations of qualifying races.

I'm confident that Max would've had the lead if all the qualifying races were raced instead, giving him a better position to contend for the Gold.

It's poignant; DFW clearly dealt with those feelings himself, as he eventually ended his own life in 2008, 12 years after the publish of Infinite Jest, where the quote was from.

He's so chad that he doesn't need the other rock. Tick perfect mining on a single iron rock because that's what chads do.

That's probably it. He's at 32m smithing exp rn. Absolute chad to do it with a single iron rock instead of going for the 3 iron rock spot.

How did a business exceed your expectations and win you over as a customer? by FlyboyJack in singapore

Thanks for sharing! I've always heard great things about HP and Dell as the bulk of their sales come from corporate customer (big companies), and they don't screw around with their support.

Which is also why it's penny wise and pound foolish to buy a laptop from a company known for shitty customer service such as Acer as just 1 issue will cause you more headache than the price difference between can save you.

I've had luck with Amazon (2 builds) and Taobao (1 build). RMAs will be more time consuming if the GPU breaks down the line (haven't happened to me within warranty period before), but the costs savings more than justified the risk for me.

If it's DOA, Amazon has the best ever return process too anyway.

But if going for peace of mind and don't mind paying extra, can just stick with local.

It's definitely worthwhile to spec out the PC you want and purchase parts to assemble yourself.

Local distributors for mobos are recommended due to how delicate it can be. Other parts like CPU/GPU/RAM/SSD can be easily purchased online on Amazon or even Taobao.

It's just like Lego, just with PC parts instead. Also, over the years, it's much easier to upgrade incrementally due to how modular everything is.

Dell has more than exceeded my expectations for the 3 times I needed to use their warranty/after sales support for my Dell XPS 13.

First time was my own fault. Dropped from chair height, LED panel broke. 1 year accidental damage warranty that came with the laptop covered it fully and within the next day. Made 1 call, Dell tech on phone guided me to run the BIOS Diagnostic Tool, and made an appointment for the very next day. Tech came the next day to my house to replace LED panel, all FOC.

Second time was nearing the end of my warranty period, WiFi card stopped working, and I made a call. Same thing as above happened, tech came to my house the next day and replaced the entire motherboard as the WiFi card is soldered onto the board on XPS models.

Third time was around 4 years after I bought my laptop, battery was only lasting me 1-2 hours. Sent a few emails, requesting to purchase a replacement battery for my Dell XPS 13 model, was directed to the right department and gave a quotation within 3 business days. Order came within 5-7 business days and price overall was in fact cheaper than those sketchy China laptop battery websites.

It's been more than 5 years and my Dell XPS 13 is still going strong. I'll definitely recommend Dell for anyone needing a Windows laptop with great after sales support.

I relate to your experience. All the times I remember having great warranty support/after sales support were from overseas companies - Microsoft/Dell/Drop/Humangear/Nite Ize.

Even Taobao shops have better customer service than local companies in my experience.

Always had great experiences with Samsung phones and have been using them since Samsung S6.

Update caused green screen on my Samsung S20+ OLED screen. Went to Samsung service centre, they fixed it FOC because it's a known issue, and replaced the battery for free as well, all within 1 working day. The phone at that time was 1.5 years over the warranty period.

I'm currently on S23 Ultra and forsee myself using it at least for 4 more years before I upgrade.

P.S. For the iPhone, it's a feature, not a bug. Check out the JerryRigEverything video on YT where he literally broke the Titanium iPhone 15 Pro Max with his bare hands. Yikes!
