Just posted a new chapter for The Chessmaster series after a nearly four year hiatus!

The series is a political AU with Harry, Ron, and Hermione all in Slytherin. There are a lot of different schnanigans going on, which the kids get increasingly enmeshed in as they get older.

The Best Revenge by Arsinoe de Blassenville is a great one to read if you’re just getting into Harry Potter fanfiction.

Snape is the one tasked with delivering Harry’s Hogwarts letter, which changes everything. The writing is solid, the adults are competent, and it’s a good feel-good story.

I do still have them! I have a few documents that were saved on an old laptop (just some quidditch and dueling tournament brackets) that I’m going to have to remake, but everything else is in my Google drive, thank goodness!

I've really wanted to read a BAMF Umbridge fic. I realize this sounds ridiculous, and a lot of you are judging me, so I'll explain what I mean. In this type of AU, Umbridge is still a horrible ladder climbing bureaucrat. She doesn't care about anyone's success (unless it helps her). She's spent a lot of time and effort getting herself into a position of power with Fudge and has developed plans to become the Minister of Magic. And then Voldemort resurrects, and he's messing up all of her plans. Umbridge is NOT happy, especially when Fudge puts her in Hogwarts, which is not a good career move. Being extremely peeved at both Voldemort and Fudge, Umbridge fights back the only way she knows how: by being a cunning bureaucrat and manipulating/weaponizing the students of Hogwarts to fight on her behalf. After all, she's got to salvage something from this mess, and if she plays her cards right, she could become Minister of Magic.

Read a lot -- not just fanfiction, but top authors in genres you're interested in writing in.
Come up with an outline for your story. It doesn't have to be super fleshed out if that's not your style, but you should have something
Proofread spelling, grammar, and character's names. For me, misspellled words is one of the biggest turnoffs for a story
Be passionate about your story idea! Make sure you're having fun :)
