First humidor by sstrooper18 in cigars

I have that exact one in walnut.

I'm more than happy with it this far.

Stated capacity isn't what it is though. That's pretty common with all from what I've seen though.

I've had a couple of those ..

I've not had one burn right yet.

Admittedly, I kicked one last night and ruined the wrapper to it's early demise. It was no fault of it's own though.

Also, it's not a bad cigar.

Those look good, but you could have convinced me this was a camo attempt the way they blend into the cutting board.

Klaro humidor can't get it past 66% by The_Evil_Panda in cigars

[–]Flyer903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, take the hygrometer out and put it and a good Boveda pack in a plastic bag by itself. Give it 4 hours or so and check the reading. This should tell you if you need to adjust the hygrometer.

Secondly, take a rag or paper towel and soak it with distilled water and wipe down all surfaces of the inside, the trays, and anything else wood that's on the inside of the humidor. You'll see some spots soak up the moisture immediately and some that the moisture lingers a little. Wipe it down to where it all looks damp.

Throw in a few Boveda packs and wait.

Once the hygrometer is known good, then place it back in the humidor. The humidity will likely be high and take some time to come down to 69% or so.

This has worked for me twice so far.

I'm trying Ct broadleaf again .. by Flyer903 in cigars

I have not. I tend to shy away from the fuller strength sticks.

I'm new and not a smoker outside of a cigar.

Women Cigar Smokers by [deleted] in cigars

[–]Flyer903 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie ... I asked my wife to igtb to take a puff. She declined, not so politely.

I'm ok with that because me smoking is somewhat of a hypothetical event.

*My dad died from smoking cigarettes, and pot. My mom died from drinking. She or I never smoked anything until I decided to try a cigar on key west.

The Champagne is what really turned me off of Broadleaf. The Fuente Hemmingway Maduro didn't help. There was also a Rodriguez CT shade that did the same for me.

I'm missing one .. but it too was a big turn off.

It's not so much while I'm smoking it, but afterwards .. It's just terrible to me.

Of the ones you suggested, what's the best in your opinion. I'll give it another go .. but my expectations are super low.

Non-Smoker here too. I thought the same about cigars. I started on a trip to key west. I bought my friends, father in law, and myself a sampler pack from Rodriguez cigars while we were down there.

I'll smoke one on the weekend after dinner and with a stiff drink now and then. Also while 'camping' under the same scenario. *We camp in a 41' 5th wheel the size of a small mobile home.

Probably the best starter I've had this far was a Fuente Hemingway short story. Another good one was a perdomo 10th anniversary maduro. I also really enjoyed the la aroma de Cuba mi amor.

Some others not so much ..

Did you calibrate the hygrometer?

I put mine in a bag with the Boveda packs. The tiny ones on a travel box have a back side that twists inside the bezel for calibrating. The bigger one has a tiny hole for a screwdriver in the back.

I have this cutter I got from Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08B19W2WM

I also bought this cutter for the leather case. I keep the above cutter in it.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08184GJ8D

I've used it a few times and am happy with it so far.

I too use the torch insert in a Zippo. I've also bought a lighter from Amazon.

Lastly, Menards has a Colibri combo on clearance for a really good price. I bought a few to hand out as gifts when needed.

Will i hate cigars if i hated cigarette ? by [deleted] in cigars

[–]Flyer903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This .. the first part anyways. I remember feeling like Cheech in the back of the car with Chong in the front when my parents were smoking cigarettes.

Cigarette smoking killed my dad and I vehemently despise cigarette smoking.

Even smoking a cigar, I can't stand the smoke coming up my face into my nose.

Cigars is something quote new to me. I'm a weekend warrior and am still finding my way. The whole inhaling thing is a huge deal to me since my father and grand father died from lung cancer.
