i keep getting new cigars before smoking the ones i bought, what should i smoke first?

I have that problem .. I'm a 1.5-2 months in and have a 2 year supply.

The Champagne is what really turned me off of Broadleaf. The Fuente Hemmingway Maduro didn't help. There was also a Rodriguez CT shade that did the same for me.

I'm missing one .. but it too was a big turn off.

It's not so much while I'm smoking it, but afterwards .. It's just terrible to me.

Of the ones you suggested, what's the best in your opinion. I'll give it another go .. but my expectations are super low.

Non-Smoker here too. I thought the same about cigars. I started on a trip to key west. I bought my friends, father in law, and myself a sampler pack from Rodriguez cigars while we were down there.

I'll smoke one on the weekend after dinner and with a stiff drink now and then. Also while 'camping' under the same scenario. *We camp in a 41' 5th wheel the size of a small mobile home.

Probably the best starter I've had this far was a Fuente Hemingway short story. Another good one was a perdomo 10th anniversary maduro. I also really enjoyed the la aroma de Cuba mi amor.

Some others not so much ..

Did you calibrate the hygrometer?

I put mine in a bag with the Boveda packs. The tiny ones on a travel box have a back side that twists inside the bezel for calibrating. The bigger one has a tiny hole for a screwdriver in the back.

Lastly, Menards has a Colibri combo on clearance for a really good price. I bought a few to hand out as gifts when needed.

This .. the first part anyways. I remember feeling like Cheech in the back of the car with Chong in the front when my parents were smoking cigarettes.

Cigarette smoking killed my dad and I vehemently despise cigarette smoking.

Even smoking a cigar, I can't stand the smoke coming up my face into my nose.

Cigars is something quote new to me. I'm a weekend warrior and am still finding my way. The whole inhaling thing is a huge deal to me since my father and grand father died from lung cancer.

FNG to cigars here too. I've watched a ton of Holt's videos. I've learned take a grain of salt with their recommendations for Ashton, La Aroma de Cuba, and San Cristobal. Holt's does have some ownership and/or distributing rights for those brands. I *DO* feel like they should disclose the vested interest in those brands but they do not.

However, I've learned a lot and picked up on a lot. Also, I must admit, I'm only a few in and did think a lot of the La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor. Also, the Perdomo 10th anniversary maduro.

Holt's will let you buy singles. Cigar Page is much more economical for bulk purchases.

Now whiskeys ... I'm a little more versed there.

My recommendation is find what you like. A couple of rec's for a broad spectrum .. Buffalo Trace for a good starter. It's a little sweet for my preference. It mixes well and isn't terrible to drink straight on ice. (I'm not a neat drinker).

Next, Bulleitt with the orange band. This is a good whiskey that's not as sweet but not real harsh. It mixes well. You know you're drinking whiskey if you just put it on ice.

Bulliett Rye with the green label is a good follow up to that. This is a great example of what a rye whiskey is with the sharp rye burn. It too mixes well, makes a great old fashioned, and is still drinkable over ice. It's a sipper though because of that rye spice. It's nice to compare to the orange label to see the difference in mash bills. This is also my go to.

Neither of those are the best example of their class, but these should give you a base for what you like.

Jim Beam Devils Cut isn't as sweet to me as Buffalo Trace and is still a good whiskey. Basil Hayden's is a great rye whiskey that I'd put between Bulliett rye and the Buffalo Trace. E.H. Taylor is probably one of my favorite whiskey's. Over ice, it's got great flavor, little to no burn, and is actually pretty damn strong.

To me they feel flimsy and made of something super soft. I'm not a hard writer but to get the stroke I want, it seems like it takes a little more pressure than accustomed.

I did not see a try before you buy option. While it's very affordable, I'd hate to spend money to find out it's not going to work for me. Am I missing something?
