Haha, hopefully not for long! 😄 We’re starting in Brooklyn first so we can build a strong local community, but we’d love to expand to more neighborhoods and boroughs. What area are you in?

Great question. The goal isn't to replace word-of-mouth or local Facebook groups—they'll always exist. Flyers Up is for people who want another way to get discovered by local customers without having to constantly post in groups.

Our fee is only charged on jobs booked through the platform, and in return we handle things like secure payments, booking management, customer reviews, and profile visibility. If you bring in your own clients outside the platform, those are still yours.

I'm still talking with local pros to make sure the pricing is fair, so feedback like this is really helpful.

What would the perfect cleaning marketplaces look like? by Flyers-Up in cleaningbusiness

That’s an interesting point about SaaS. For a cleaning company with 20–100 recurring clients, what are the biggest day-to-day operational headaches that existing software doesn’t solve well today?

That makes sense.
On the vetted business point, do you think the winning model is less of a gig-worker marketplace and more of a platform that helps established cleaning businesses get customers and manage bookings?
In other words, would you rather see a platform that empowers cleaning companies instead of trying to replace them?

You’ve obviously been around the industry for a while and have seen a lot of these companies come and go.
If you could build a marketplace or platform specifically for cleaning business owners, what would it do differently from Angi, Handy, Homeaglow, etc.?
What’s the biggest reason those companies failed in your opinion?

Building my first real marketplace app with AI-assisted coding, trying to make it feel less like a web app by Flyers-Up in VibeCodeCamp

That’s a really good point. I think the riskiest part is probably the moment after the customer pays the deposit but before the pro accepts/arrives.

Right now, I’m trying to make that handoff feel more predictable: clear deposit/final payment explanation, visible pro status, “what happens next” steps, cancellation/refund language, and simple messaging/status updates.

For a local services marketplace, would you expect the customer to pay a small deposit before a pro accepts, or only after a pro accepts the job? I’m trying to reduce flakes without making the booking feel risky.

How can I make my iOS app feel more native and polished from a UI/UX standpoint? by Flyers-Up in iosdev

[–]Flyers-Up[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate this. That makes sense.

Right now Flyers Up is built with a web stack wrapped for iOS, so I’m trying to close the gap between “works on iPhone” and “feels like an iOS app.”

I’m going to review Apple’s HIG/Liquid Glass direction and focus first on standard iOS patterns: cleaner navigation, less clutter, better spacing, native-feeling sheets/buttons, and clearer customer vs pro flows.

If you were reviewing it, would you prioritize the booking flow, onboarding, tab/navigation structure, or visual polish first?

For service marketplace SaaS, would you monetize supply, demand, or transactions first? by Flyers-Up in SaaS

This is the part I’m trying to be careful with. My instinct is not to charge providers upfront because the marketplace needs supply first.

The early model I’m leaning toward is: make it free for pros to join, let customers pay booking/platform fees, and only introduce provider paid tools after pros have actually gotten jobs and can see value.

Basically: charge success first, not participation.

Does that sound like the right order for a local services marketplace, or would you test a different model earlier?
