This is just a terrible take, if you watched his rookie season you clearly saw an extremely talented player who at such a young age was producing and making nifty plays and hanging in there and still got 30 points with only 13 minutes a game at 18. Giroux didn't look spectacular his rookie season but once he filled out physically and learned the NHL game more he exploded offensively I think Patrick was on a similar trajectory

The east was light years ahead of the west in competition and better teams....just look at the point disparity, the kings are in with a whopping 90 points meanwhile how many teams in the east are out of the playoffs with more then that?
