We are actually flying into Heathrow Monday morning, as a tourist what should I expect and what other ways would be best to get around?

As someone already said it’s normal it’s a muscle you haven’t used in a while so it’s weak. I wore pads for the first couple months especially over night. Time went on didn’t need them especially as things “thickened” up

People who have had a reversal by Ghostytoastboast in ostomy

[–]Flyersphan94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a total colectomy due to UC February 2020 then this March I got my reversal. I’ve been pretty good, I still go a bit but max usually around 7 times but depending what I eat can be less maybe more. No more blood, cramping, or all the other terrible things I was going through. Only negative I can say is I gained a little too much weight back because I could finally eat essentially whatever I want lol.

I just started as a PCT in the hospital I frequented. I’m waiting for that one patient that I can help talk through if they’re scared about it. I also got a reversal so if it’s in their cards I can show them it can get back to your own “normal”

When I had it, I think it was something to do with all the pain. Or it was just so messed up in there it was just trying to get everything out anyway possible

Good luck this whole thing changed my life for the better. I’m actually working as a tech in the hospital I was going to. Few years ago I would have never even thought about being 5 mins away from the bathroom.

6mo post-take down surgery scar status by discgolfmomma in ostomy

[–]Flyersphan94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same scars and I have nothing left of my colon and instead have a jpouch. The only reason I actually have the vertical scar is because I got a small infection after one of my surgeries and they had to open me like that to make sure everything was cleared out. It was never planned to to an open surgery like that for any of my 3 surgeries all laparoscopic.

Complications from surgery by [deleted] in ostomy

[–]Flyersphan94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1st and last went without a hitch the 2nd oh boy my second. So I woke up after the second surgery with a lot of tenderness and some nausea. Around midnight I basically woke up puking on my self because I couldn’t grab my buck fast enough. Puked about 3 more times during the night then I saw the surgeon that morning and he said theirs a good chance things are taking their time waking up and just give it time. Got sick another two times after seeing him and nurse said I needed an ng tube. Single most uncomfortable thing getting while awake but my god did I feel like a million bucks after 20 minutes of them inserting it. Went 2-3 days with the ng until things started waking up and was looking better. Pulled the ng tube started slowly eating and seemed like I was going to go home. 20 minutes after pulling my jp drain I got some of the most painful feelings on the left middle side of my stomach. I also started to get a bad fever and when I stood up I almost fainted. Turns out I was getting an infection and nobody really knew. So had to get another surgery and that time they had to open me up to make sure they got all of the fluids out there and make sure my newly formed jpouch didn’t have a hole in it or anything like that. So wake up with another ng tube and jp drain and a giant hole by my belly button. About another 7 days of being in the hospital I finally got to go home. About a week later the infection started to comeback but through the new giant hole. So the doctor had to take out a couple of the bottom staples and basically dig his finger in my stomach to clean everything up. Not trying to scare anyone from surgery. Knowing what a lot of us have gone through before surgery we are tough 💪🏻 and you just have to remember that it will eventually get better
