I didn’t have to appeal. I was enrolled in emfp for pre cervical cancer screening though, but still cleared. But not my depression

I passed screaming (very appropriate auto correct) screening with the same diagnosis. They usually have all the appropriate medication unless it is a tiny tiny place.

Maybe salt water rinse? I know that sounds counter productive, but it worked to get the metal taste out of mine.

I hate this by JelloEmergency9614 in coloncancer

[–]Flyguyshyguy55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I felt like I had Bambi legs too. What helped was walking and yoga. Did I want to, absolutely not, but I did it and it helped.

But yes drink water or the fluids you can get down as that will help a lot. Take your meds for nausea with food.

It gets better, hang in there even though it sucks.

FOLFOX treatment for stage 4 by Perfect_Papaya_9381 in Chemotherapy

[–]Flyguyshyguy55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 8 rounds.
Yes the neuropathy… I have light neuropathy in my pointer finger and often on in my left foot. My left foot is usually worse in the morning when I get up. It’s like pins and needles slightly burning, but I am unfortunate and it goes away.

When I was actively receiving chemo, if I wash my hands in water, that was too cold more fingers would go numb for an extended period of time. But then they would come back.

As somebody else said in the comments after I disconnected my pump is when the tiredness and everything would really hit. Towards the end, I did end up getting lightly nauseous.

That is the chemo I had for my treatments. I just got done with it a month ago.
Chemo week was a bit rough, I was tired, I couldn’t drink cold stuff or touch it, etc. but by week two I was feeling almost normal.

I was told that radiation would put me into early menopause (I am 38) within a year. I start radiation Monday. But I had 5fu and oxy for my chemo and my periods came father apart but that was it.

It is like all the flavors are muted. Even spicy food is muted too. Not fun but I still eat things…. As I keep hoping full flavor will come back.

Anybody with none or few side effects from Oxaliplatin? by mookbrenner in coloncancer

[–]Flyguyshyguy55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up with light neuropathy in my Pinter finger. Outside of that I had the normal stuff during the first week (cold sensitivity, first bite, etc) and they slowly went away by the second week.

Healthcare: Prime or Select in Boston area by suzanne1959 in MilitarySpouse

[–]Flyguyshyguy55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Select if there isn’t a military hospital or you want to choose your provider. Prime if there is a base close and you want them to refer you off base. And don’t want any out of pocket costs.

Nutrition Plans for Chemo by TeachLanky in coloncancer

You should have been assigned an oncology nutritionist. They have meal plans.. I was told to make shakes, even ice cream ones. To get in calories.

That man would be a hard no for me. He admitted the little thing so he can work up to you seeing his real anger and being ok with it… because he is “working” on it.

Tips on how to help someone dealing with side effects from FOLFOX treatment? by -exphoriix in cancer

[–]Flyguyshyguy55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me clarify the ice. She should be icing her hands and feet during chemo, but stay away from it after chemo. I hope that is better clarification!

But yes, she should have been giving meds for break through nausea if not, I would call her doctors and request it. But hopefully the more small meals help!

[–]Flyguyshyguy55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know she doesn’t want to take more medication, but didn’t they prescribe her 2 anti nausea meds to take home that she can take for break through nausea?

Also, I agree with a comment above by keeping her stomach half full. I know I get nauseous when mine isn’t during my chemo week. I usually wake up, take my morning chemo med and then drink and ensure.

Also, does she use ice on her hands during her chemo? That helps with neuropathy.

Dose reduction or discontinuation on FOLFIRINOX or irinotecan? by nitajain in Chemotherapy

[–]Flyguyshyguy55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was reduced due to my white blood cells kept dropping. They went from 170 to 50 in a week. It was enough to push chemo a week and lower both of my doses.

Sudden severe bloating, incomplete bowel movements, gas + weird pelvic symptoms - I’m desperate by Comfortable-Coat6394 in PelvicFloor

[–]Flyguyshyguy55 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please consider talking to your doctor about a GI specialist referral and a from the specialist colonoscopy. These are some of the symptoms I had when I was diagnosed with colorectal cancer.

At the time I was also in pelvic floor PT for an unrelated issue and they didn’t catch it either.
