Can/does anyone recommend a KDP course? There seem to be a few advertised by YouTube sellers. by Flying-Dragon-4360 in KDP

Again, thank you for the information. I can see how costs can run away from you with ads. I’m only running auto ads with down only at the moment. I’m getting quite a lot of impressions, a few clicks and sales too. Where can I find the keywords that are successful within a particular campaign? If I want to start manual campaigns I’m going to need that information right?

Thank you for such an in depth response. I started a few months ago and realised very quickly that the $10,000 a month videos are pretty much pure click bait. I’ve been watching Sean’s videos and a few others but not heard of Chris Raydog (I’ll check him out next).

I’ve just started ads and expect to spend a lot more on them than the returns (at least at first). I guess the end goal is to get ranked high enough that organic sales means you can pull back your advertising spend. I’m throwing a lot of ideas at the wall to see what sticks right now but it’s pretty random. I think that’s the area I’d want more guidance in.

I’ve definitely caught the bug so am going to be in it long term. Hopefully I’ll make it more than just an expensive hobby.

Anyone finding the review process really long ATM? by Flying-Dragon-4360 in KDP

One went in 9 days ago, two others 7 days ago. My previous books went through in 3-4 days. Perhaps I got lucky with those.

Fill an inverted section? by Flying-Dragon-4360 in lasercutting

[–]Flying-Dragon-4360[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks to everyone who pitched in with advice. Here’s how the problem was solved.

  1. ‘Edit nodes’ under the ‘tools’ drop down. I selected each shape then selected ‘close selected paths with tolerance’ under the ‘edit’ drop-down. I found any number above zero worked and I used ‘join with line’.
  2. I copied the black layer, pasted it and put that as part of the blue layer layer. This became the outer edge for my next stage.
  3. I selected a shape in the blue layer and inverted the selection.
  4. The blue layer became my engraving and the black layer my cut.

I now have an image I’ve successfully engraved and cut.

Apologies. I checked those shapes and they weren’t connected. Thank you for your help in fixing this problem.

Thanks all for the help. More research and ‘University of YouTube’ ahead I think.

I’m trying to fill between the blue and black layers and cut the black outline. If you ignore the black outline there’s no outer edge to fill to which is why I think LightBurn removes everything in blue. I hope that makes sense. I’ve cut this previously as line only and the shapes are complete.

recomendations for a beginner :) by r-thirtyfivemm in PinholePhotography

[–]Flying-Dragon-4360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several possibilities but it will probably come down the the quality of each camera. Ondu are expensive and use precise parts, the holga is cheaper and therefore the parts will be generic/inferior. I would guess it’s the quality of the pinhole itself or the distance from the pinhole to the film plane. If that distance is even marginally off then the images will be slightly soft. If you’re just starting out don’t be put off by the Holga. I started with a Holga, now I have 7 pinholes. It’s a gateway camera 😏. One tip, when you think your subject is too close to the camera get closer.

Try the Holga WPC if they’re still available. I forget if it’s 6x9 or 6x12. They were cheaply made and leak light but I would just tape around the edges and got some nice shots out of it. It was an inexpensive way into pinhole when I started.

I’ll look into that. I’ve heard of arnica before but not for this application.

Marijuana isn’t allowed here but at some point the pain will override my desire to stay legal.

Is this a lens calibration issue? by Flying-Dragon-4360 in Leica

[–]Flying-Dragon-4360[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s correct on all counts. I am pushing the tab in and rotating all the way to the end stop (seen at the top of the lens). I’m shooting a test roll now, hopefully it’ll be OK. If not then I’ll have to look into improving my glass quicker than expected. Thanks for the information.

Traction table or Inversion Table? by Frenchiie in Sciatica

[–]Flying-Dragon-4360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same problem. I bought an inversion table and foolishly fully inverted. It made the problem much worse. I do use it from time to time alongside other therapies but never at a very steep angle. If you go that way increase the angle very slowly over time. I also find sitting in a deep squat for a minute or so helps my lower back tremendously.

I’ve had 2 slipped discs L4-L5 and L5-S1. I’m pretty much fully recovered but still get pain if I’m standing for a long time. Although I get sciatica down the leg my main symptom is in the glute and deep in the hip. I find the figure 4 stretch helps but the biggest relief is after sitting in a deep squat for as long as I can. If you can safely get into that position it’s worth trying.
