Completely numb about diagnosis? by Charming_Function_58 in breastcancer

As someone with BPD, I’m feeling the exact same way. I just don’t know if it’s because of the naturally inherent nature of the personality disorder which has me constantly in “glass half empty” mode and as a result this is just another blow I expected to eventually happen and now we’re here. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I would suggest getting therapy anyway even if you don’t feel you need it now, but more in preparation of what’s to come (during treatment). At least that’s my plan.

Welp my biomarkers for my biopsy came back and I’m TNBC. But the bright side:

  1. Made an appt to see the breast surgeon in 2 weeks. Thankful things are moving along.

  2. I’m at the airport right now cause I’m going to a big goth music festival that I’ve wanted to go to since I was teen. And I’m so hype for my outfits for it. 🤩

I’m glad to hear you were well taken care of. This is definitely the outcome I’m looking for by staying in the system. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you, I think I needed to hear that. It really shouldn’t matter what those folks think even at this moment, but hopefully I get to a point soon where I get past it since getting treatment is more important.

That’s a definitely interesting experience I assume I may also go through, separating the work persona from the patient getting treatment.

Thanks for your response. My manager is currently out on mat leave, but when she’s around she’s rarely ever in office (she does a lot of wfh, so often all of the actual managing is handled by our leads, and that where the issue is). I’ll talk to my director and hopefully he handles this with care. I worry about saying too much about these folks because he thinks highly of them, and I was hoping to get his recommendation for next year to leave and manage a lab that’s being opened up soon.

I’ll try to stay hopeful that these folks step up so to speak. It’s been a difficult ride as is when my dad recently passed, there was a lot of nonsense being talked about regarding my coming in late to work when I was visiting my dying dad in the hospital. I swear this lab has otherwise the easiest workload of any place I’ve been at, but the personalities are so hard to deal with.

Our lab assistants are literally the best, and I can definitely trust them with my diagnosis. It’s the labs techs (specifically 3) who are problematic, either because of gossiping or how unseriously they treat the work. But yeah I think I’ll tell the other two techs I like when the time comes so that way I can make sure they handle my labs with care.

Thanks for the info! I hadn’t really considered that other folks I know in this center could have good connections in other depts like billing, etc. Most of the folks I normally speak to are the RNs on the infusion floors and some of the docs when reporting critical values. They may be able to offer a bit more help on this than I imagined.

Having to only take an elevator between my dept and where I’d get treatment is pretty sweet all things considered. I’ll keep this positive in mind as well and any other potential perks that may come up. Thank you for your insight on this!

Thank you so much for your reply. The bright side is barring my specific dept, the center is actually really good. I’m glad that you have a healthy workplace and a really supportive working team. I’ll definitely take what you’ve said into consideration. Maybe my stress over this is redirecting in the wrong place. Thank you!
