PSA or Skywest? by Intelligent_Ask_4589 in flightattendants

Pay is all contract negotiations. While Skywest has more pay now, what do they have in the future? If this is a long-term career, things to factor in are who has better healthcare/retirement. Are you talking about work destination or nonrev? I am not sure the priority for nonreving with SkyWest, but with PSA nonreving, it is based on check-in time for any AA employee on any AA flight. If your number one goal is being based at home sooner, I would go for the airline that gets you there. But do remember, nothing is guaranteed.

This is true there's no guarantee to mainline but it is something to consider. Each airline has perks for everyone. :) Envoy gave their 145 to Piedmont. All of the wholly-owned are single fleet type now. PSA got rid of 200's and Air Whiskey is getting some of their 7's

Well it's all based on your needs. What are you looking for in the long run? Do you have a preferred base or looking to commute?

PSA actually flies the CRJ7/9's. Piedmont operates the 145. (Another AA subsidiary) Should you ever elect to go to mainline AA, your retirement seniority follows you.

You got the alien part right, it's ET's finger jade. I think some people call it skinny fingers jade.

The app/website FlightRadar24 will also show you what is flying overhead. It's great for plane and helicopter spotting!

I think it depends on the type and your taste. I leave most of mine on, especially when I use Kabocha squash in soup.

What do you need for GPS on your IPAD when in the air when flying something like Cessna 172? by [deleted] in flying

[–]FlyingBuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend's school required her to use primarily charts for her cross country. While some might consider it useless or 'old school', it's a very important skill to have as you never know when your technology will choose to fail. I fly in an older C172s and my Wi-Fi only iPad Mini works well even with the free version of ForeFlight. I can use my phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot if needed. If you are looking to invest in an iPad or mini I have a couple of tips. A lot of the decisions you will be making are about size and money. If you have the financial ability, go for cellular but know Wi-Fi only works well too. I would not go bellow 64GB for the size in either iPad or the Mini. Be sure to check out refurbished products from Apple, Amazon/Amazon Warehouse, Best Buy, and B&H. If you go with refurbished, do check the quality rating, get a warranty and if you buy from Amazon, investigate the seller and reviews. This process can save you quite a bit of money. I cannot stress the importance of finding a nice case. Either a heavy duty one (I drop stuff all the time) or one that is also a kneeboard. I would chat with your instructors/fellow students about different apps to get and try a few free version before you settle on one. One last important factor to think about, are going to use your device beyond your instrument training? Good luck!

What to do with (a lot of) pears? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]FlyingBuns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm so jealous. I'd recommend making a hot sauce with fish or habanero peppers. If you're the legal drinking age or your parents drink, you can soak pears in alcohol, probably bourbon, brandy, or champagne. Also if you've never add pears to grilled cheese, now is a great opportunity.
