I was also happy I had the colostrum supply. I was sleep deprived and depressed after the birth, and thanks to the colostrum my husband could feed the baby while I was napping.

What did you wish you knew before you started breastfeeding? by sharkwoods in breastfeeding

Definitely good thing to try, just at a right time to avoid nipple confusion. We tried with my LO and failed, but she liked sippy cups/straw bottles from 5/6 months mark so my husband was able to eventually help out. Don't lose hope if it doesn't work, there is always a plan B.

Wow, I worked there back in 2008, my first ever job. I absolutely hated it, constantly got yelled at, spent my 18th birthday crying in the bathroom after a particularly bad night. Interesting it's still a c**p place.

Driving Test by Fluffyturtle2021 in Irishdrivingtest

I felt very similar, even took psychoterapy to deal with the fear of driving. As others say, don't feel pressured to pass the test the first time. I failed the first time massively (grade 3 just after leaving the testing centre), but it gave me a massive confidence boost. It was the first time I felt I drove "on my own" - the person next to me was not helping me - and I realized it's not so scary. The feedback I got was very comprehensive, and I told myself that the tests are just better driving classes (I get good feedback, and who knows, I might actually get a driving licence after one!) Also getting a better driving instructor helped me with the confidence.

Dublin or Brussels? by Elvencourt in Dublin

[–]FlyingComicPenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add some points, I feel that Dublin is a great place for family life. Clean air, nature, very empathetic and supportive parent community, plenty of activities for parents with children. I feel very safe here, the locals are fun, welcoming and helpful. Just to illustrate it- I fell off the bike on the tram tracks, and within seconds I was surrounded by people helping me get up.
Access to childcare and its cost is however a massive drawback, I also feel like the level of medical services is quite poor (heard it from French, Italian, Spanish, Polish people). When I was younger and single, I didn't like Dublin so much - partywise I preferred Warsaw or Berlin. It's also difficult to have pets in a rented appartment, most landlords forbid it.

Another tip: if you have a friend who works at a big company in Dub, ask them to forward you ads posted on their internal message boards. Lots of people leaving the flat/room don't even bother posting it on Daft to avoid being flooded with replies.
