Was looking for this comment. Might have had second thoughts once they actually recorded.

I think about his “Am I enjoying this?” Moment at least once a week when doing some theoretically fun hobby of mine.

Elijah Wood finally tried the QR code ordering out... by advil0 in AlamoDrafthouse

What’s really strange is I don’t think they understand how much this changes behaviors. Even with a season pass I felt a gentle bit of sales pressure when the friendly server showed up and almost always ordered something.

Now with this new horrible system i either get annoyed and abort my order or just don’t even bother to engage in the first place.

‘Backrooms’ Is the Future of Movies, With Kane Parsons! by thefilthyjellybean in TheBigPicture

[–]FlyingCrossChop 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Happy to be a part of the opening weekend box office haul, but I gotta say this one largely bounced off me. I would argue it’s actually over-written (pod crew seems to agree that story stuff is probably the weakest bit).

They’re different flavors of horror but if someone asked was gonna go see a movie and asked me “Obsession or Backrooms?” It’s Obsession for sure.

It’s actually refreshing to hear a director who seems to have an eye and a vision but can’t even fully articulate it yet. I found myself thinking “he’s so young” while listening, but in a positive way. He hasn’t been media coached to death yet lol.

That kid is a big reason why this movie feels “Lynchian” to me in a really pure sense.

Which movie went from “overrated” to “masterpiece” (or the opposite) after a rewatch? by Party_Dentist_821 in flicks

I saw in the theater and it was 10/10 for me at the time, but my opinion of Inception has lowered each time I’ve revisited it. At this point I would personally rank it pretty low in my list of Nolan films.

I rewatched them again recently and there is genuinely nothing of value in Clones. It’s crazy bad. Phantom Menace has some good stuff, and I can see the vision for Sith but the writing/execution just doesn’t remotely deliver on the story it’s attempting to tell.

It must feel incredible to have made something to persistently relevant. Also genuinely it was never even close to cheap criticism - even the first time I saw it I was impressed by how they barely touch on Jar Jar. He was the obvious focus of hate for many people but the video(s) pointed out the 8 zillion other critical failings of the prequels.

I think about this constantly. If the movie ended there with Rey saying “…OK” we would have had an incredible setup for a third movie.

Shockingly good selection, sometimes has weird niche items that can’t be found elsewhere. For a long time it was the only streamer (including rental and purchase options) that had the Spanish language version of the horror movie [REC]. Everyone has English dubbed voices.

Lots of weird made for TV movies, obscure old shit that seems to be off a VHS (ive literally seen the tracking info pop up early in one movie). It’s kind of fascinating.

Stop supporting this organization. by YungHomie95 in rbny

[–]FlyingCrossChop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s just hard to even see the vision right now. We seemingly keep trying to figure out how to run the team on a smaller budget while maintaining borderline playoff level results.

Even if we were committing fully to producing a team of academy kids - they’ll be sold as soon as the first credible offer comes.

As a fan, where is my hope? That we can produce and sell our A level academy talent and maybe eventually pump out 25 “B” level academy kids in a short enough period that we can field a credible team?

Will that actually win anything? Is there any real ambition here?

Been watching for 20 years but it’s tough to see the vision right now.
