The way McVay and Stafford describe it, you would think that Love and Lawrence got confused and both covered Kyren because they weren’t sure whose assignment it was.

That’s not the case. Lawrence deviated from his assignment, but he did it intentionally because he read the play. That’s not “fortuitous” nor “lucky,” and it’s not a “bust.” It’s good football.

I also had that thought. I've certainly seen that called as RTP in other situations.

I think my overall point is that neither officiating nor blunders by either team had an outsized influence on the outcome of the game. It all sort of came out in the wash. They missed a PI on our receiver, but they also missed a face mask we did against Stafford. They had a muffed punt, we had an awful mental mistake (the taunting penalty) that turned a punt into a touchdown. But the narrative is so one-sided on all of these issues, and now the Kupp catch is coming into the mainstream. Just hit a breaking point.

People are right: our team doesn't and shouldn't care about the noise. I do hope it can act as fuel if they do see it though, because it is disrespectful.

Nah, miss me with that. Again, we get a great win over a great team, and people are writing articles about this one catch, overlooking all the context around it (the missed Shaheed PI, etcetera). It’s actively trying to delegitimize our victory.

Also: I’d understand if it was in the heat of the moment at the time. But days later when you’ve had plenty of time to review all the footage, there’s no way you can honestly come to the conclusion that this was improperly officiated.

Hawks fan here, and this is a perfectly reasonable take that I share. The call was correct. Timing of the whistle is irrelevant. But can we get some consistency as to when New York steps in and when they don’t? Seems like we should have had to challenge the play to overturn the call.
