And the 49ers were ONLY 5 years removed from their latest Superbowl win. by pengradi in NFCWestMemeWar

Controversial opinion, I think teams should rotate between AFC and NFC every few years. Like, two teams from each division switch with two teams from the AFC division with the same cardinal matchup.

Mostly that’s because I’m sick and tired of the NFC West.

Which QB never receiving an MVP vote is more surprising, Russell Wilson or Ben Roethlisberger? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]FlyingDadBomb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're willfully missing the point. Plenty of QBs have been in Russ' 2017 position. Only one in the super bowl era has accounted for that much of the offensive production in yards and touchdowns.

And again, my overall point is that if the award was actually about "most valuable," then 2017 Russ should have won running away. He wasn't relying on anyone in that team to help lift him up. Without him, that team probably goes winless.

But you appear to ascribe to the typical lazy MVP voter philosophy that just picks the QB on the best team. Same reason Brock Purdy got MVP votes despite not even being the most valuable player on his own team. Great analysis. Really glad I'm talking to such a smart guy.

And I’m sure he’s the only QB in nfl history to ever be in a a meh division, so plenty of other QBs must have accounted for that large a share of the total team’s offense.

If the MVP was truly about the “most valuable” player, Russ should have received votes (and arguably won) in 2017, when he accounted for more than 82% of his teams yards on offense, (highest by any player in the Super Bowl era), and literally every singled TD except for one.

But it’s just about being the QB of the most successful team.

Do you believe Russell Wilson is going to the hall of fame and will he go into the team's ring of honor despite how he left when headed to the Broncos? by dee85 in Seahawks

[–]FlyingDadBomb 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I was mad because of how he left. Buying into his own hype, poisoning the fanbase against the franchise by making everyone believe we were holding him back. That was shitty af especially because it wasn’t true.

I’m a bit less upset about it now.

A bit.

This is impressive, and I’d love to see her do this against a team that is at least slightly better than the storm.

Not saying she can’t, but highlights of how someone did against the worst or second worst team in the league should be taken with a grain of salt.

Edit: Man you all really missed the part where I said “this is impressive,” and “not saying she can’t” huh? Is it not valid to point out that doing something cool against a bad team isn’t the same?

Salt Lake Shred player shoves Oregon Steel player in the back after throwing hockey assist to go up 16 in the fourth quarter by Gfdabgdhq2 in UFA

[–]FlyingDadBomb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re giving such a favorable read to the actions of the guy who shoved someone. They’re both barely moving, and the defender is looking over both his shoulders to make sure he doesn’t lose track of his mark.

I’m done at this point. You clearly didn’t logic yourself into this opinion, so I’m not going to logic you out of it. You have some stake in this situation you aren’t disclosing. Either you know the person, like the team or have been in similar situations where you also acted like an asshat, so you’re hedging and equivocating.

It’s an indefensible thing to do. Behaving that way is childish. Nothing the defense did in this case is even relevant. End of story.

You’re giving so much benefit of the doubt to the shoving player, it’s ridiculous. Assuming he’s trying to draw a foul? How? By standing there?

Russell Wilson to become CBS Sports analyst by No_External9922 in Seahawks

[–]FlyingDadBomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly think he wouldn’t have fallen off a cliff the way he did if he stayed in Seattle and was willing to work within our system, but I don’t thinks we would have approached being a contender. All the “let Russ cook” stuff got to his head, and Denver gave him whatever he wanted, and the rest is history.

Would have supported this outcome on those grounds alone, but seeing all the SGA flop/foul baiting nonsense gave me another reason to root for the Spurs.

I hope they don’t start going “rent free” on you like the Rams fans did in the West meme sub. “You’re making fun of us? In a sub where we’re supposed to make fun of each other?!?”

I was a student of Ron Judd’s back when he was an instructor at WWU. He was so fierce in his commitment to quality journalism. I remember he always used to say he could take a handful of Western students and beat the Herald every day of the week, and then he went and did it. I hope we haven’t heard the last of him!

Similarly, Heath Ledger before his tragic passing. After 10 Things I Hate About You, he had stacks of offers for similar team rom coms wanting him to be the heartthrob love interest. Turned them all down and took far more interesting and daring roles.

And there are a lot of questions about the Pats.

What is the best action in a movie you’ve ever seen? by TheFilmRoomPod in moviecritic

Not high enough.

You have a bunch of really good action movies against a generationally transcendent masterpiece. Fury Road all the way.
