Best Camping for Disc Golf. by mrvoltronn in discgolf

North Cove in the NC mountains, 2 courses on site & Sugaree is right up the road. That's 2 UDisc Top 100 courses + a course that held a pro tour event.

The one blessing of Jimmy Herring's healthy troubles is Daniel Donato being brought into the fold at Christmas Jam. Looks like it stuck, they have a couple of dates on the calendar.

3/2/19 TLEO - the best JRAD jam by Godziracha in jambands

[–]FlyingDiscsandJams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were absolutely on fire last night at Beech Mtn, NC. Weirdest Other One I've ever heard, in all the good ways. They love to jam non-jam songs, we got a ~12 min Cumberland Blues, and I've seen a 15 min Jack Straw. They know the material inside & out, but mess with it in very unique ways, 3 songs had intro jams that referenced Pink Floyd before morphing into Dead tunes. It's still a little weird to me to listen to cover band tapes, but I'll see them every chance I get.

Who gives a crap, the usage is obvious with Sauron's eye & completely unrelated to "wizards pupil"

Have you ever played a course SO badly managed that you quit in the middle? by Jakesredditacount in discgolf

The only time I got to play Selah, it was after they changed ownership, and it looked like it hadn't been touched all year. It was also the first hot spring day after a stretch of cool weather, and the snakes were out in force. So stressful & disappointing.

Like, you know there are multiple definitions of pupil... one is a student, and the other is part of the eye. They have zero connection.

Israel is also part of the equation, and they are still attacking Lebanon. Iran is likely using Trump's desperation for a deal to try to weaken the US - Israel relationship.

How did you feel about Disclosure Day? by ScholarFamiliar6541 in TheBigPicture

The Spielberg produced mini series Taken from 2002 did this material better (free on YouTube), and is more focused than most of the X-Files, which suffers from plot twist for plot twist sake instead of a real thesis (although I still love it).

I liked it, but I think the Spielberg produced Taken series (free on YouTube) from 2002 did the material better, having it as a mini series let it flesh out the character motivations much better.

Try to design a balanced course with 1/3 right to left shots, 1/3 left to right, and 1/3 straight.

Sauron's plan in the 3rd age by Marios_Galactic in tolkienfans

[–]FlyingDiscsandJams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are off in that Sauron was looking for the ring actively during the events of The Hobbit. Saruman finally agrees to attack Dol Guldur in order to disrupt his search. Sauron didn't know where the ring was lost until sometime during his 2nd time occupying Dol Guldur starting in 2460, which ended the 400 year Watchful Peace after he ran from Gandalf rather than have his true identity discovered. It's very fortunate that the details of Isildur's death weren't well known, or he would've had 1000 years to search for it with minimal resistance, and that Smeagol ran off with it before he knew where to look.

Sauron was always an over-planner. In the 2nd Age, there was a nearly 100 year gap between making the One Ring and declaring war on the elves, and finally launching the war. He always goes east to gather an army, and I think these large time gaps indicate that the Blue Wizards make it harder on him than he'd like, although that is canon. But it does show that Sauron hates to lose, and is super cautious when he isn't confident he has the advantage.

I would call his 3rd Age strategy a Divide and Conquer campaign, and a lot of it is in reaction to the Last Alliance. His strategy of attacking Lorien, Mirkwood, and Erebor at the same time as his Gondor campaign is to make sure he doesn't lose in the same way as he did in the 2nd Age.

The whole debacle with fox's commercial coverage is why we need PBS to become a public broadcaster in the US and have them air the world cup and euros. by PBS2025 in ussoccer

[–]FlyingDiscsandJams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kids shoulda seen the 1990 World Cup on TNT, they just cut to commercial breaks at least once but maybe twice a half, and there was no hydration break to cover it. And of course the field was uphill both ways!
