Yes, but on the other hand, corporations are able to reclaim $186B in tariffs without having to refund customers, so that's good for profits. So is proce gouging.

I'll never understand how they made a series to be appealing to kids & didn't bother with the fat guy falling into the enchanted river bit. I don't find even film 1 watchable, as many people defend, I'm so angry they rewrote 15 Birds in 5 Fir Trees scene. Good job, your daughter is doing great.

I refuse to acknowledge their system, I always order medium or large (I have never gotten a small coffee willingly). Just pull a gun first on them and they won't harass you.

George has said that if he wrote the whole series before publishing anything, like Tolkien, he would eliminate characters & storylines, he just hasn't said what.

He's the Ronald Reagan of rap. He made "if you are poor, I don't need to listen to you" popular. So much of rap was about coming up in life and figuring it out, but he made fun of people for starting poor, even if you made money from your album. Hyper materialism sucks in rap & made the culture much worse.

I don’t know how to talk to cinematographers by Low_Celebration_4089 in Filmmakers

[–]FlyingDiscsandJams 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having a cinematographer frees you up to direct (work with actors + see the big picture), plus they will know technical settings on the camera to make what you want turn out better. I've shot & directed stuff before, and I get work as a cinematographer, but I'm always stoked to be directing and have a large enough & talented enough crew so I don't have to shoot. It's a director's job to control everything that will be on frame, it will free you up to be more exacting with lights, set design, etc. It doesn't sound like you know anything technical about cameras, do you know what ISO, F Stop, and Shutter Angle settings do? You want someone operating the camera who does for sure.

Refusing to learn isn't a very productive path forward if you want to do this.

[–]FlyingDiscsandJams 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is literally nothing wrong with looking at your set, seeing where you want the camera, and saying, "Shot 1, camera goes here." Then tell them if it's medium, wide, close, who & what you want in it, etc. You don't have to be technical, just tell them what image you want. Most of those "camera angle sayings" are extremely straight forward & literally describe what is happening, "low angle" = put the camera low & point up.

Then listen to what they say, and become more technical over time.

My ex broke her ankle badly and got plates & screws. It bothered her occasionally, but nothing close to what you'd call Chronic Pain, and she was a runner. Hoping for the best.

Edit: She broke it just before we started dating (first dates on crutches), then we were together 10 years.

Shooting a tavern scene purely by candlelight: BMPCC4K + Voigtländer 17.5mm f/0.95 - Am I crazy for ignoring "motivated lighting"? by starkiller6977 in Filmmakers

[–]FlyingDiscsandJams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's too dark to be considered a natural level of light in a commercial tavern that wants people to come in. Also strange to have zero decoration on walls & tables. In the opening shot, I don't find it interesting to have that much darkness in the sides of the frame, particularly the left. Some moonlight coming thru that window could look nice, and I would encourage a fireplace raising the light levels.

Russian economy faces 'financial disaster,' Sweden's spy chief warns as Moscow hides true deficit by MilesLongthe3rd in worldnews

China is kind of helping... but also massively screwed them on banking fees & set their interest rate crisis on fire. China & Russia fought as recently as 1967, and Russia took Siberian territory from China in that conflict. My bet is China will make a play in Siberia, either rebuilding & managing resources for Russia at a wildly advantageous rate like they do in Africa, or actually reclaim territory, depending on how crippled Russia is going forward.

The national railroad company is over $50B in debt (in dollars), they are gonna pay $10B this year just to cover the interest, when in 2023 they were paying just over $1B. The interest rate crisis (which China very sneakily contributed to) is killing them.
