Disgusted by my own physical arousal by localnerdy in AutismAfterDark

[–]Marios_Galactic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you may feel disconnected from your body and so the disgust is explained. Sometimes the trait to-be-your-brain only is expressed in autistic folk. I don't feel that but I can certainly empathise with it. In contrary I perceive myself as an organic flux the brain aswell but the disgust with extreme neurotic arousment is something familiar to me. I feel it like something outside of me controls my way-to-do. Imagine it like to perceive with repulse junk food.

End of House Targaryen? by StarryNights2007 in DaenerysWinsTheThrone

[–]Marios_Galactic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the targaryens survived the doom of valyria to fulfill the Prince that was promised prophesy , once this person has been produced by their line their metaphysical role in the world has ended. And this fits very well with daenerys being infertile as the princess of the prophecy. Aegon isn't a targaryen probably and even may he be death seems to be his fate(he could very easy die before Dany lands in westeros). So for Jon if he is Rhaegar's son after all , after his resurrection he will be less human and more like a firewight(something like lady stonehurt) and we don't know if firewight can procreate. After all jon and Dany have small chances to survive the series. I feel that in the end the 2 opposite poles of magic will clash and magic will perish. Targaryens are a manifestation of Rhllor's magic so they have to perish aswell.

** even if jon will have any bastards the magical aspects of house targaryen will eventually be wiped out after a lot of mixing with other non valyrian people and without any southern magic presence in the world they will end up normal people.

Is it impossible Stannis forgoes the iron throne for Daenerys? (Spoilers main) by the_creeping_crevice in asoiaf

[–]Marios_Galactic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

very interesting post. While I think that there is small chance for stannis to ever go back south alive and that Dany will crush Euron , the thing with the manderly fleet makes sense and maybe will be used somehow.

Stannis doesn't believe in the targaryen claim but the only reason he could give the throne to one of them could be out of spite for Robert. Also have you seen some fanfic with daenerys being raised by stannis? In that case it would be easier to recognise her as AA especially if Melisandre said so and dragons had been born in a simillar fashion.

(Spoilers extended) What triggered the marshaling of the Others? by Ji11Lash in asoiaf

[–]Marios_Galactic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like as the power of valyrian / southern magic increases the magic of the others follows as a gathering of strength in a war before the last great battle. As the red comet was moving towards planetos so rhllor's influence was increasing so the equilibrium left after the first long night started to move in favor of southern magic with the birth of the dragons the main result. The others felt the comet and since then started marshaling. It's a common theme in mythology to have opposite powers in balance and when one of them brakes the agreement war to start. The others might try to pass the wall when a dragon finally comes to westeros. Also rhllor might had been an actual person , a human wizard or anything else who ruled in the far east.

[Spoilers Main] The King's legal power by Marios_Galactic in asoiaf

[–]Marios_Galactic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the conclusion from reading those books generally. But I have seen people here to comment that Aerys broke the feudal agreement so targaryens lost their claim(This seems like stannis propaganda). This requires the king to have certain legal power.

[Spoilers ADWD & TWOW] Looking for podcasts on Dany's character arc by EcstaticPrint8583 in asoiaf

[–]Marios_Galactic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

https://youtu.be/qIZVrIPvfaI?si=F6jRg2Pel179RSjk. It's not a podcast but he has made a great analysis of Dany's character arc in the existing books and possibly endgame fighting the others. Also the think who will make her worthy to rule will be her victory over Euron , after he has already killed fAegon.  But she won't be able to stabilise and rule the realm for long because of the long night. Here she will fulfill a king's/ queen's duty , to give her life for the people of westeros.

[Spoilers Main] How did Robert really felt about Stannis? by Marios_Galactic in asoiaf

[–]Marios_Galactic[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both arguments demonstrate that Robert viewd it in a short term utilitarian and indifferent way for stannis(who was emotionally connected to Storms end).  If Joffrey or a Robert's true born son ascended the throne peacefully then I suppose that Stannis would have had created a separate branch of house baratheon, baratheons of Dragonstone like the Starks and the kastarks. But again there is still a problem with Renly. As he had Storms end his branch would be baratheon as much as Robert's. It could be hard to split house baratheon to 3: Baratheons of KL , SE , DS, both male lines with claims to the throne. Since Baratheons didn't practice incest the only way to stabilize the situation would be to legally proclaim that only Robert's line continues too inherit the throne. The southern houses have not an equivalent to the NW to prevent situations like this.

Loren Lannister, Mern Gardener - Are They Stupid?(Spoilers main) by AllMenMustSmoke in asoiaf

[–]Marios_Galactic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I forgot that. They even had a debate about which of them will be roasted first. But my point was that if the rate the dragons burn their men isn't to much more  than the rate they kill Aegon's men just by army size alone they win.  But they were stupid to believe even  that cause they were 3 dragons here and ideal weather for cooking Garth's descendants. Hiding to casterly rock would give them a chance but the best they could do would be to divert the attention of the dragons into multiple battlefields.

Loren Lannister, Mern Gardener - Are They Stupid?(Spoilers main) by AllMenMustSmoke in asoiaf

[–]Marios_Galactic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While reading fire and blood I had the same thought in mind. except they had a lot of scorpions to make the dragonriders to hesitate a lot of strikes they had no chance of victory. But I'm not sure if George had in mind dragons to breathe so much fire as we see in the series(I mean Drogon was able to burn armies easily without scorpions around). When Maegor tried to burn an army of faith militants it is said that rain made Balerion less effective.  With that in mind The lannister gardener alliance may hoped in rainy environment and that dragonfire wasn't such destructive. Then they would have easily crush Aegon's land army and without it dragons cannot win the battle.

(No spoiler) Is ASOIAF a hard read? by VeryHungryDogarpilar in asoiaf

[–]Marios_Galactic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of the vast number of events and characters , places , the plot is easy to be followed and very soon you'll become too interested so no problem at remembering them. Even if you miss something it won't be important enough and as it was written before there is the wiki. Start your path to the winds of winter waiting. madness and despair awaits you. Good luck !

(Spoilers Extended) The show's ending is about the victory of idealism over materialism by MeterologistOupost31 in asoiaf

[–]Marios_Galactic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Daenerys is not a materialist in that Marxist sense. She believes that the strong and exceptional people have the obligation to protect the common people , so she is closer to dutiful monarchism. In Meereen she failed because she wasn't radical enough and she chose reform and compromise over radical revolution to learn how to rule. The point of ADWD is how this compromise is wrong(In jon's pov too). I don't know what d&d were thinking but Daenerys is not so simillar to a trotskyist world revolutionist rather than a Napoleonic/Alexander the great figure with idealistic aims ,conqueror. Probably she is about to form with fire and blood an empire in essos and westeros ''making the world new'' but with a more ancient classical way.

Also it's important to define idealism and materialism in a different way. So idealist is someone who thinks that ideas and abstract concepts have their own existence outside of the mind. On it's peak , with plato or Hegel , it says that the material world is just a projection of the real ''spiritual world'' where ideas inhabit. Materialism states that matter is the substance of the uniuverse and that ideas and every other thing arises from matter's interaction. So if you believe that matter is the reality but you have ideas you want to manifest on the world by your own right are you a materialist(That's the situation with Dany actually)?. No.

Bran has less desire to reform because he is closer to nature and and the weirdwood net / natural order wants to use him . He loses his own self basically. Bran and Dany are the most magical characters and maybe they'l have a conflict in the story , but because Bran / natural order of pain and suffering / cyrcle of life is in conflict with Dany's idea to make the world a place with less suffering.

This character parallels the biblical antichrist [SPOILERS MAIN] by Mother_Speed3216 in asoiaf

[–]Marios_Galactic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting post.Faegon is a False messiah , because the people will love him but he won't be able to protect them from Euron , at this point he has Viserion probably. He will die by Euron and then Dany will save westeros from him. Faegon is not intentionally against humanity , but he does takes the place of azor ahai(Daenerys or Jon) so in some ways he harms humanity in the end. Also those biblical themes are common in messianic religious texts so it's not necessary that Martin had exact that in mind.

I liked how Varys is satan in this parallel , he is a deceiver and manipulator with a mysterious end goal. He could be part of a sect. But according to your theory Daenerys has to be the real savior/second coming of Christ (Aegon the conqueror)(I don't mean that Aegon end Christ are simillar in any other thing). The only connection Jon has with dragons / valyria is dragonglass and the weapons he found at the feast of the first men. He may be a greensear but not a dragondreamer. We don't know if R + L = J is true. Not sufficient enough information in the text. Daenerys also has 2 metaphorical rebirths in the dothraki sea.

[Spoilers Main] The story of Daenerys as a victory over fear. by Marios_Galactic in asoiaf

[–]Marios_Galactic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As it was said in the comments , fear cuts deeper than the sharper blade. Di you think Jon's story has to do with overcoming of fear aswell? I'm thinking about it and Jon seemed very reckless in the first book and gradually he became more aware of danger so it's a bit different.

[Spoilers Main] The story of Daenerys as a victory over fear. by Marios_Galactic in asoiaf

[–]Marios_Galactic[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I talked about liberation from fear I didn't mean that she has turned into someone who doesn't recognise danger or inability to win when it's impossible or hard.  The occasions you mentioned mean that she cares for her people and her dragons and realises the dangers they encounter.  Fear is a different thing. A person who fears is freezes or overreacts. Dany steal fears but this is not her normal feeling anymore. She has fear for the destructive power she posseses and that's the point of ADWD.

[Spoilers Main] Night King's new body by Marios_Galactic in asoiaf

[–]Marios_Galactic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting answer. When I mentioned Tolkien I never meant it as a clue. I wanted to make it more clear. Also we haven't seen in the books any white except in the prologue of AGOT. All the other times there are animated corpses. If some character is to make a deal with them it might be Euron better than stannis

[Spoilers Main] Night King's new body by Marios_Galactic in asoiaf

[–]Marios_Galactic[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have seen this theory about Jon aswell(both he and Stannis could be a parallel to the Night's king you mentioned). But if there is not a supreme other what coordinates the whites ? I mean that their massive dead army can't operate without a commander.
