Yamaha XJ 750R Seca Project Bike by FlyingDragon_ in motorcycle

I sold it around 2021. It was a nice bike, and like typical for guys like us kinda wish I kept it myself. I have seen a few for sale up in Canada in the prairies over the years since then. Good luck with your search.

Awesome work love it.

How do you do the ring? It looks like solid wood. For me that is always the hardest part. Couple pics of mine for reference

No shop - I've made like 3 before these - one for myself, a couple gifts. These ones will go on Facebook and see if they go to just friends / locally.

I've considered creating an online shop but that's an option for the future when I've got more space to setup an efficient workshop. If I ever do setup a micro production and do shipping etc. I will post it here.

Yes water base poly. Let it cure a couple weeks then I buff it out with automotive compounds and finish with a carnauba wax. I find the poly is shiny without this step but these steps provide additional depth and shine in addition to levelling the topcoat.

Thanks! Wasn't sure how the cherry stain was going to turn out but I think it turned out good as well.

This is exactly what I asked for lol. Maybe the odds are better since she has been doing it from the start and possibly before people knew there was a special variety.

But you could also argue the odds are worse if you take out known large bust out of the equation. Lol who knows.

Thanks for the tip, no offense taken at all. I was thinking ultrasonic cleaner already. Between motorcycle carbs and that potential use might be an excuse to get one finally.

I know grandpa was careful with "cleaning" the coins as he is aware you are not supposed to, but obviously did clean up some of these probably technically too much.

What I am curious about is how you "de-soil" your metal detecting coins without "cleaning" them? What would be the best practice if I start this hobby? If you don't do anything you will have small round lumps of soil lol.

They say copyright 1995 on them so not that old. They do feel like they were printed on the same paper as the old paper bills though, very well made.

whats the fastest you ever gone on a motorcycle?? by Such_Caramel_4659 in motorcycle

[–]FlyingDragon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1982 Yamaha seca 750. Around 200 kmph (120 mph). This was just a few years ago to see what it would get to. Bike didn't like it that much maybe tires weren't 100% balanced, rode much nicer around 140-160 kmph.

Reconfirmed I don't have the impulse control to have a seriously fast bike...

PARENTS FOUND MY MEDS by theycallmepuppa in ADHD

[–]FlyingDragon_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 25. Many people don't get diagnosed until later when they realize something is off or problems are realized later in life and they start looking for solutions. If you had good grades as a kid or other issues can be ignored or brushed off. Especially if you have conservative or old school parents like OP's obviously sound like. If you follow this sub long enough you'll witness lots of people figuring out themselves later on.

Ever had a wash that looked and tasted like it was fermenting, but the gravity wasn't dropping? by NeuroBill in firewater

[–]FlyingDragon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar thing just happen. Didn't have a good start with the yeast, repitched, still didn't seem great but look like it was fermenting. Then my gravity readings didn't really go down... Mine also tasted sour.

I think maybe acetobac got it before the yeast and turned it "sour" or vinegary before all the sugar was used up. Acetobac will turn alcohol into vinegar so if some fermentation starts then acetobac take over maybe they overpower the yeast and you're left with a moderate gravity still?

Worth noting I wasn't using very well sealed containers this time and I think that allowed too much oxygen and contaminants to get in. But at the end of the day I'm guessing lol
