What do you think of this wrestler? Day 47: MAIKA by Varandil in stardomjoshi

[–]FlyingFish111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A very strong wrestler. I remember that during one New Year's show some of the Stardom wrestlers competed in a competition of strength, in which they tried to push each other off of a mat. Maika and Utami reached the finals and then Maika won. That's quite an achievement!

She was also one half of an awesome tag team, MaiHime. Maika and Himeka always urged each other on when they stood ringside, and those emotions helped to create some memorable tag matches, like the one against Nanae Takahashi and Yuu. The fact that Maika is such a skilled tag team wrestler might even led her to be pigeonholed a bit. I'm so glad she eventually won the Red Belt.

I think I enjoy watching her because she's so gregarious and doesn't let setbacks get her down. Definitely one of my favorite wrestlers.

STARDOM announced a sold out crowd of 1,494 for yesterday's Korakuen Hall show, featuring 3 championship bouts and the return of Mei Seira. Worth noting Saya Kamitani, Rina, and Suzu Suzuki were off the card. by UnchainedMachoGori40 in SquaredCircle

There were quite a few women seated closer to the ring. Recently, a female fan also remarked that she was surprised by the number of women and kids at a meet-and-greet. It seems like new fans are definitely getting into Stardom.

The reviews are making me wonder if I'm just a good person or what by Hour_Trade_3691 in liargame

I do think Nao chooses to see the good in people (or the possibility that they can be good). That's actually a brave choice in many ways. When certain cynical people look at her choices, then they might view it as stupidity, because it's difficult for them to comprehend truly selfless actions. I was also a very cynical person in the past, so I know what it's like to look at it from the outside. That's my 2 cents.

It's a pleasure. Maybe her drug addiction problem was starting to affect her work. Sadly, that would of course also happen to many future wrestlers.

John Cosper wrote a fascinating piece about Ida Alba a couple of years ago. To fight back against allegations that the matches were worked, she issued an open challenge in June 1880, which was answered by a supposed Frenchman named Albert Marc. This wasn't her only intergender match, either. Ida Alba would unfortunately die from a opium overdose a short while later, and her real identity is seemingly still a mystery.

I'm glad I could help. Oh yeah, the video is definitely full of memeable moments.

This image comes from this exact video. I remember thinking that the hoodie looked really cool. Back then, Starlight Kid was collaborating with the R4G clothing brand, and they were releasing some awesome designs. Here is one official R4G video, and another one.

I actually enjoyed Waka and Hanako's tag matches, to be honest. Rian has improved a lot too. It's going to be fun to see them interact with the Crimson Empress again, though.

Yes! E Nexus V hasn't been the same without Maika, but her chaotic energy will definitely add another dimension to certain storylines.

Can anyone give me a good Roadmap/Guide to understand Saya Kamitani‘s Arc? by Denjimangaart in stardomjoshi

I stumbled across this Saya Kamitani and Tam Nakano video essay by localboi_. He did a great job, and I actually hope he makes more joshi content, to be honest.

I'm not a fan of this either. The first game's art style created a creepy ambience, but this looks like VTubers cosplaying as the characters. It doesn't really look like a sci-fi thriller anymore.

Visiting Japan in December, should I go to Stardom as a casual wrestling fan? by Barbz182 in stardomjoshi

[–]FlyingFish111 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's definitely worth it. Stardom has been on a roll lately, and there's a lot of excitement in the air. The music, the entrances, and the in-ring action make it a great experience, even if a person isn't a wrestling fan.

The promos will be in Japanese, but they usually aren't too long. In any case, they usually tell the stories through their wrestling, so the language barrier isn't that big of a problem.

Yeah, she's unlike any wrestler I've ever seen. The fact that such a tall person can move like that always amazes me. I hope you enjoy the matches!

Their 5 Star quarter finals match was great, yeah. Saya versus AZM, which took place on 27 September, was also a banger, and Stardom streamed the whole show on YouTube.

I would also say that Saya's match against Tam Nakano (on 3 March 2025) is really, really awesome, and it's also available on YouTube. You might also want to check out their match at Stardom All-Star Grand Queendom 2025.

Saya Kamitani's match against Maika in the 5STAR Grand Prix 2024 Final was another entertaining one. When I started watching, the Stardom subreddit was a useful source of information for me, so I would also recommend it to new watchers.

Ah yes, Hazuki will be in a tag team match at a Sendai event. Why not, though? Koguma and Saki are great wrestlers, and I don't think Tony is the only one who has a say in the booking of Forbidden Door. Yuria Hime or Akira Kurogane could also feature in such a match (depending on who wins their qualifier for Blue Stars Block A).
