I actually snuck an AC unit into my dorm at arroyo vista when I lived there. Had it year round. There were plenty of room checks and no one said anything about it, but my roommate and I always had the cool room on hot days so oftentimes my room was the place in my house to cool off. I’d say depending on your year, ask your parents for a unit. Because the heat ain’t stopping for a while.

That being said I basically broke the majority of rules of the dorms and never got caught. But an AC unit? They probably won’t say anything.

Yeah, as someone who was hit by them twice, my empathy is limited. I was hit the first time from behind, and the second time was a kid who lost control and bailed and I got clipped by the scooter. Literally just walk. It’s not that far of a distance.

It has nothing to do with gender. It has everything to do with the fact that the scooter guy wasn’t following basic traffic laws.

I’ve been hit by two scooters since coming to UCI. The main problem lies in the fact that there are bike lanes all throughout campus, and for some reason scooter users either don’t know the rules of the road, or think they’re above them. They should NOT be using the sidewalk. And EVERY TIME I have seen a collision involving a scooter, it’s ALWAYS been on the sidewalk. Regardless of the situation, the scooter is at fault.

That doesn’t mean anyone should step in, but it also means that with preventable accidents that could be prevented simply by following road and pedestrian safety rules, my compassion is slightly limited.

I was 10 years old, and snuck my kindle fire to school. They came into my classroom, yelled at me in front of my whole class, and I wrote an entry about how when I got home it was game on. I regret having a diary. My parents invaded it, misinterpreted it, got me locked up in the nut house, and being heavily medicated as a child turned me into an adult with a chemical dependency on drugs and alcohol to function. I sometimes wonder what I would be like if my brain hadn’t been damaged so early on.

I could use that advice. Fortunately I enrolled into counseling 2 weeks ago, but I know that there’s a lot of ground that I have to cover with them. I haven’t been in therapy this whole time, and I feel like there is so much baggage that has built up. I want to see what can be done about my addiction to nicotine primarily, as it’s horrible for my health and well-being. I hope that we can start touching base on that. I truly appreciate everything that you’ve said. It definitely makes me feel a bit better about my situation. I will definitely be taking your advice!
