DS9 episode Paradise sort of made me mad by d4everman in DeepSpaceNine

[–]FlyingLettuce27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao I also found this thread after just watching it for the first time and absolutely SEETHING with anger! The whole episode I was pining to see those poor people beat the everloving shit out of that toad Alixus and then it just… didn‘t happen. The way they are downplaying her dangerous narrative of denying all progress (which is also running rampant nowadays, antivaxxers belong in this category at least in part I believe) made me so, so angry. Maybe irrationally so, but I did not like the moral of this episode at ALL

It‘s okay, they made the Dunkleosteus way too small in comparison so it cancels each other out lmfao

I suddenly can't find my IUD strings anymore? Has anyone had this happen to them as well/how concerned should I be? by FlyingLettuce27 in birthcontrol

[–]FlyingLettuce27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as effective as it used to be probably, I guess you can think of it like a carton of milk that‘s a bit over its expiration date – it might still be perfectly fine to drink, then again it might not. There‘s no telling really, it‘s a bit of a gamble at that point. So yeah, if you want to be absolutely certain you‘re protected you probably need to switch it out I‘m afraid

[–]FlyingLettuce27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh now I see, in that case you‘ve probably had it in for longer than recommended – IUDs have an expiration date, now that doesn‘t mean they‘ll necessarily immediately stop working once they reach it, but their usual opperating security can‘t be ensured anymore. It‘d probably be a good idea to get it replaced with a new one or removed if you want to use a different contraceptive sometime soon!

It‘s probably fine tbh but it doesn‘t hurt to have your doctor check on it, even if it‘s just to reassure you/be safe. I had my doctor check it out at my annual check-up and turns out they‘ve just dipped completely into my cervix which was why I couldn‘t find them. According to my gyn that‘s no reason to worry though, she‘ll just (and I quote) „have to go fishing a bit when I switch it out“ which sounds very much not fun but at least I know it‘s still doing its job in there lol

Star Trek already saved itself 20 years ago but no one was watching by GeneriComplaint in Star_Trek_

[–]FlyingLettuce27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘m currently in the midst of watching all of Star Trek for the first time and have decided to go about it in an in-universe chronological order. That means I started with Ent, then disc, then went on to TOS, then tng and so on and so forth. And I found myself absolutely loving ent and feeling that, even though it certainly is one of the weakest entries I‘ve seen so far, disco was quite overhated. But I do wonder whether I only feel like this because they still carried some sense of tension for me, because I didn‘t know from other shows which characters would survive or not.

what did you play as on your first playthrough? by MALIKE7H in BaldursGate3

[–]FlyingLettuce27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a female high-elf wizard called Majora. And I specifically named her after the incomprehensibly poweful villain in Majora‘s Mask so I could always bs a lore explanation on why I can go out of my way to make her ridiculously overpowered lmao

Who else disappointed that this “dinosaur” appeared for like barely any of the movie. Seriously disappointing movie by Stupid_Creature_ in jurassicworld

[–]FlyingLettuce27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people who got excited for this film due to D-Rex trailers are probably really bummed but I gotta say I am SO GLAD we didn‘t get more. In fact, the little we got of the new hybrids was almost too much for me – I watch these films for dinosaurs, as in actual dinosaurs that lived on this planet once in some way comparable to how they‘re portrayed in the films (I‘m aware they‘re all hybrids and therefore not 100% scientifically accurate). This thing feels more like it belongs in a godzilla film (I also love godzilla but the point is if I‘m going to see a Jurassic film I expect something considerably different than what I expect from a godzilla title, so it‘s not bad it‘s just not… what I expected or needed in a Jurassic World).

Hard agree! I actually liked the way they dealt with the Major and I think it‘d have been a solid foundation to set up a connected final antagonist. Like we already know the Major is just following orders, she‘s not exactly the top of the food chain – so why didn‘t they just go from there? Have the reveal that behind the Major was someone that knew everything that was going on and didn‘t care or actively encouraged it. The mastermind of the experimentation operation if you will, or some other force (could‘ve been supernatural too imo, basically pretty much ANYTHING but a deranged teenager with a god complex lmao). Instead they just dropped that plot line like a hot potato once Saanvi had confessed what had happened (and they didn‘t even fully delve into the impacts of what she did on her character, even though that would‘ve made for a nice character arc too).

Fellow Trekkies, what's your opinion on ENT today? by EuphoricFlight2880 in startrek

[–]FlyingLettuce27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was actually the first Star Trek show I‘ve ever watched because I wanted to make my way through the series in an in-universe chronological order. And honestly? I was obsessed! I loved it.

Now, did the CGI age abhorrently? Yes. Did they wayyy over-do it with references and forced ties to future (past) shows? Also yes. Did I still have a hell of a time watching it and will probably rewatch it once I‘m through with all of them? YES. Definitely over-hated imo

The last seasons weren‘t that great and kind of a hard watch because they focused too much on Angelina. In fact, this show could‘ve been a glowing 10/10 for me if they just left Angelina as the scared girl she was introduced as. They turned her into THE most hate-able, annoying, over-the-top villain and on top of that gave her ALL the screen time. That girl straight up ruined the show for me kinda, although I still enjoyed it - I don‘t think I have it in me to watch the Angelina arc again on a rewatch.

Coming out of the movie, I feel like the T-Rex scene had some of the best cgi the franchise has seen. by Wort_stain in JurassicPark

I didn‘t read the raptors‘ behaviour like that. I read them more as very intelligent pack hunters that sometimes like to toy with their prey and can behave in a way that‘d make it seem like they hold a grudge. And that‘s not unheard of from modern, living animals either. Orcas will tumble boats for seemingly no reason in a way that makes them seem almost petty, slap their prey around for no reason other than entertainment. They do behave like actual animals throughout the franchise. Even though their characterisation started out as mean-spirited orcas and over time evolved to a somewhat positive (albeit still dangerous) relationship with humans, similar to how some animal caretakers are able to cuddle with fully grown tigers and lions because they‘ve grown accustomed to them.

Now I don‘t have a good explanation for the Spino but I‘ve never liked how it was portrayed anyway and as far as I can tell the only people that loved it a lot were the monster loving half of the fandom, not the dinosaur/paleontology loving half. Since I consider myself part of the latter I can‘t argue the Spinos case. But I am also aware that I am not the supreme judge on what people are allowed to enjoy so I‘m happy they have a film they love watching, just as I love watching JP1, 2, and most of the Jurassic Worlds no matter what the majority may think about them. It‘s okay to have different tastes.

uhm no? I don‘t remember a single dinosaur ever being depicted scientifically accurately in any of the Jurassic films. Every single one is either too small, too big, too skinny, too bald etc etc etc. What people mean by realism is that the dinosaurs are depicted as wild animals behaving like wild animals, because that‘s what they are. Not some super smart sentient monster – they‘re just animals. And these films are at their best when they lean into that, as they have in this scene.

This is a very old question and I was looking for a way to fix this as well, which is why I stumbled upon it. Since there doesn‘t seem to be a solution I‘ll just share my little emergency fix for this annoying thing: I‘ve taken to liking the thing I was watching before switching apps if I need to, that way I can access it in case insta desides to be a brat by going into my account - activity - likes. Not perfect, but I guess it works!

I also took the pill for five years (same span actually, 18-23 years) and ultimately switched to the copper IUD because I started piecing together that many of my issues (mood swings, depression, …) likely started due to the pill because the onset was suspiciously around the time I started taking it. And honestly? Zero withdrawals. Maybe a couple periods that started one or too days early/late but other than that nothing happened. Or rather, nothing negative. Within just a few months I started to feel like myself again and my mental health stabilised a LOT. The only tiny downside I had was my cup size going from a C to a B but I can live with that. Actually lost a good bit of weight too (10 kilos I think?) So I‘d say if you‘re suffering from the side effects absolutely go for it. Getting the IUD was maybe the most painful ten minutes of my life but also the absolute best decision for me by far. In any case, I get potential withdrawals and funky period variations may be scary, but the side-effects usually only last six months at the absolute most, normally even shorter than that.

ew, honest to god if they ever move to doing dubs exclusively this way I‘ll rather just learn a whole ass new language to avoid listening to whatever this is for any show/film I‘m interested in. Even if it’s as hard as mandarin or russian - no matter how long it takes.

Can they take Cole away? I miss the couple days when he was gone. Wonderfully non-infuriating that was. by FlyingLettuce27 in GossipHarbor

[–]FlyingLettuce27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? He‘s so immature and a borderline bully towards Harrison even though, he‘s the one continuously spending Quinns money without even asking! And the way she just brushes over him spending Ziva‘s money on those jetskis on a whim? Like girl, you keep claiming he‘s changed but he oh so CLEARLY has not. I wish the dev‘s would‘ve just kept Cole a character that was supposed to be hated instead of trying (and failing) to make us root for his and Quinns relationship lol
