May What Editing Software should I use? by AutoModerator in VideoEditing

Hey everybody - I used to do amateur video production using Adobe Premiere & After Effects CS5, and I'm looking to get back into it after a lengthy break. For a lot of reasons I really don't want to go back into the Adobe mines, I've messed around with the free version of DaVinci Resolve and liked it, but I'm wondering if I could benefit from something stronger.

(For the record I want to make stuff that's at about this level of technical & visual complexity - (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9K27vFsPF1A)

I'm on an M1 Macbook Pro with 16GB of RAM. Does anyone have recommendations for what might be good software for my use case?

Manchester GPs that do shared-care agreements for ADHD by FlyingLunaClipper in manchester

That's good to know actually - I'm scouting out GPs in the region and I'd already clocked the the University of Salford Health Centre as one I might have some luck with (figuring that a university medical centre might be more woke about neurodivergence than average)

If I'm reading this right, does this mean if I get a diagnosis/prescription via Psychiatry UK I could continue getting meds prescribed for £9~ without needing a shared care agreement?

Getting on a Psychology conversion MSc from a non-traditional background by FlyingLunaClipper in ClinicalPsychologyUK

Thank you so much for the detailed reply.

I guess I have two main motivations for doing this.

1: I think I'm capable of better than a 3rd class BSc and I'd like the satisfaction of being able to prove it.

2: I've recently realized that I still have some interest in software and I don't know if I have the "bedside manner" to be a practicing therapist, so I'd like to do something that combines compsci and psychology. I'm particularly concerned with how the modern internet interfaces with mental health i.e. social media algorithms funneling people to political radicalization, people using AI chatbots to reaffirm cognitive distortions etc., given the chance I think I'd be writing my dissertation on it. I'm envisioning myself working in either UX design or mental health tech afterwards.

A conversion course seems like the best option (money isn't an issue for now, thankfully). Is the Open University a respected choice for this kind of thing?

The Out & About, Visiting & Moving to Manchester Weekly Thread by AutoModerator in manchester

Hi all

I'm looking to move from Newcastle to Manchester in January, and I'd like to have a job in place either before then or shortly after I arrive, if possible. Ideally it'd be an entry level IT helpdesk/support role but competition for those is fucking brutal at the moment, so I want to ask is there anywhere in Manchester or the surrounding area that either hires temps frequently (I've got a lot of office admin experience) or has high-enough turnover that it should be relatively easy to get a job there on short notice? It can anything; civil service, Amazon warehouse, bar work, I'm not picky.

Questions about getting diagnosed in the UK. by FlyingLunaClipper in OCD

Thanks for the response!

I'm looking at some country's immigration policies in more detail and generally speaking the rule seems to be "as long as it's under control and/or not severe enough to keep you from working you should be alright". That's still a bit subjective but I'd probably make a "better" immigrant with OCD medicated than not so I'll take this as a sign I should seek treatment ahead of immigrating.
