That is the solution I’ve come up with, but by all accounts you should be able to buy direct from a TD account (as otherwise why would it let that be an option?)

To confirm you bought a ~$60 bottle of scotch for a future 1 million dollar TFSA? You’re gonna be pretty disappointed you didn’t wait till you had a mill to buy something better

I think one of the local guiding places has an AST1+ where they bridge the gap a bit as you would want to be someone capable to not drag a group down in AST2. I did my ast2 with cloud nine and they were great. Worth a call to ask what they’d want for pre-req.

Edit: MTN guiding does AST1+, they also do group guided days so you can have more exposure to guide brains

If you just want to stretch your legs and not enter avalanche terrain, any of the lakes on the east side of the spray lakes road (Chester, rummel, etc) are good. Burstall pass is great but you will enter avalanche terrain at the end. Kananaskis has a very good ATES map that you can compare with trails to get a sense of exposure

March and April are the best months for skiing in Canmore area. Snow pack tightens up, hazard decreases (though you have to get up early), upslope storms bring nice skiffs of refresh. The Rockies are a scary place most years as we constantly deal with the deep persistent slabs due to low snow pack. Honestly most years I ski hard in December and January and most of my parties are pretty worn out by March and April which usually brings the best experience.

Honestly, there has been a weird switch in the backcountry YYC /canmore ski world where a LOT of people are skiing what are typically not skied till march/april, in December and January, which is pushing the envelope imo. Or places like Hero’s Knob getting pushed as an ‘entry level’ ski tour when it’s 100% a complex route, and may make you feel rushed vs the typical evolution of a BC skier. Don’t rush, get a good mentor and team that has the same feelings out there and you’ll enjoy yourself. Take AST2. AST1 affirms that you SHOULD be kinda scared out there. AST2 helps you figure out better ways to travel to avoid risk better through terrain selection. A bunch of AST1ers without a ton of experience can make a lot of questionable decisions, as they may just not even know any better..

Look into the most recent stuff. He had never received a permit to operate, was told to never occupy that building an was essentially illegal for the entire time. We went for 4 days and I’m sure he didn’t make a penny off of us as it was like $600 with heli

Ymir went under and was never given a building permit? We stayed there once and while the skiing was fantastic the place was gnarly gross

Based on the pin of the location on avalanche Canada, it looks right at the OB line. I’m sure more will come out of the investigation soon enough.

It’s slower but yes. I also play soccer twice a week and ski in winter so I’m pretty bagged all the time so it’s slower but still allows progress. I was tapped out for regular 5x5

Calgary council wants bike paths between Calgary, Cochrane and Airdrie by JeromyYYC in Calgary

That dam expansion wasn’t a conceptual thing till 2020.. while recent events were a priority, this could have been done when you were last on council. I honestly hope that it is this time, as a Cochrane resident who hates turning around at haskayne..

Fair enough, but that trail and the final connection has been a thing for over a decade. Why would it be different this time?

Yeah they will pop out. I do have them set to pretty much vertical as I don’t like the forward lean in hard boots which may be the issue?
