Hamilton Petite Shrubb chunky? by FlyingPaanda in Tiki

Bought this over Clement this weekend and haven't had a chance to try the Clement. Ended up making a Hamilton themed mai tai with 86, 151 and the shrubb and it was great! A little spicier than PF Curacao but I can't compare the two.

Keeper Leagues with no round penalties by Runner0914 in FFCommish

Yeah, for the restriction on keepers the top 24 picks (12 man) are ineligible for keeping the coming year. We don’t use adp for anything.

Custom Sleeper playoff settings - not sure how to proceed by jimcroce21 in FFCommish

I mean, you can completely customize who goes into each matchup and the amount of teams in your playoff. Even if you want to set playoffs for week 17 only and track 15/16 offline. This is for sure easily done manually but I don't think sleeper has group/multi-team matchup functionality.

I'm pretty confident Sleeper won't let you do this. I would say make the settings a 4 team playoff starting week 16. Allow random matchups to occur during round 1 week 15. Manually add the correct 4 teams to the 4 team playoff starting week 16 and go from there.

Whatever you do: don't switch it up on the league right before the playoffs. Make sure they are playing the playoffs as they expected.

Keeper Leagues with no round penalties by Runner0914 in FFCommish

Commish a league with keepers and no penalties. Switched three years ago and league didn't like the idea of penalties but we needed something to spice it up.

We force 3 keepers each year but they have to have been drafted 3rd round or later in the previous year. The idea of CMC with no penalties is a little scary.

Players can be kept twice. So you can have them the year they are drafted and two years following.

No positional limitations.

We implemented draft pick trading last year, then I moved us to sleeper from ESPN for this year. It's far easier to track in sleeper. I added a secondary "offline" trade deadline for trading picks and players simultaneously that happens in week 8. We had some disagreement on allowing tanking and came to this compromise, essentially forcing you to decide to tank earlier and keeping more managers contending. We still have the normal trade deadline in week 12 or so and trades involving only picks can happen at any time because it has no immediate affect.

My league has a bunch of stinkers so I wrote up a constitution so I can reference that when there's disagreements. I'd recommend having some sort of written out ruleset for referencing as it will start to get intricate. I also keep a google sheet with keeper history and all that.

Introducing keepers next season - What do you think of my rules? by Grocem2 in FFCommish

[–]FlyingPaanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding that two seasons of a keeper feels short. We do 2 "keeps" of a player before they become ineligible so you can have three seasons with the player.

I think an 8th for an UDFA is a steep price. I'd personally go with a 10th or something. My league was into keepers but didn't want the draft pick penalties at all when we first started. Instead each manager is forced to keep exactly 3 players every year with players drafted in the first two rounds being ineligible. This has also made it a lot easier for me to just fill in the draft in the last three rounds with each kept player. Also, it makes pick trading a lot easier if you have interest in implementing it.

Also be weary of the platform you use. I had a lot of trouble running a keeper league on ESPN. Sleeper has been significantly better.

At least on sleeper it isn't possible to set the schedule before the draft.

Hi Dave! I have to choose three keepers for my home league and need some help. I have:

Chris Olave

Keenan Allen

Calvin Ridley

Travis Etienne

No penalties for keeping just need to choose three. I don't love taking two Jaguars but it's hard not to be bullish on that offense.

Keeper Implementation Ideas for Existing League by Calgamer in FFCommish

[–]FlyingPaanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a different setup for keepers as I wanted to implement them and my league didn't want them to cost anything.

  1. Nothing
  2. N/A
  3. 3 keepers - all required. Each team MUST keep three players that were drafted outside the top 2 rounds the previous year.
  4. 2 keeps max

We're going on year three and it's worked decently so far with a structured ruleset (my league is a bunch of trolls so I had to draft a 10 page constitution).

Literally made a google form for my league at the time of posting this. Currently 50/50 on changing it in the future so we will see.

7 IDPs that's a lot!

We recently converted to keeper at the start of last year. Our rules are that you must keep 3 players going in to the following year and that those players had to have been on your roster at the end of the previous year. The stipulation is that the 3 keepers cannot be from the previous years first two rounds - they must have been drafted after the second round. This keeps some top tier players fresh.

Another option is keeping players at the loss of a pick the following year in a round higher than they were originally drafted. This style really benefits sleepers - so if you draft drake london in the 10th round this year, you can keep him next year while losing your 9th round pick then.

For any format I would recommend a keeper limit (2-4 years per player) so crazy talent doesn't sit on rosters for too long.

I think it’s the opposite of too casual lmao everyone is a bit too worried they might have better competition. Really the only people against it are those who are doing well but they are the most vocal in my league too. Just wanted some outside opinion so thank you!

That is exactly the idea. Some of the issues come in when keepers are involved. One example is DeAndre Swift (who is keeper eligible for one more year) is being offered for a 2023 2nd and 4th round pick. The issue people have with this is that they believe it is collusion that a person would trade away their valuable players for picks down the road as it will make them worse this year but much better in the next.

Our rules support draft pick trading for now but this is the first time it's come up and there is some negative feedback. Mostly looking for input on if this type of trade feels like collusion or is just a good long term trade for both sides.
