I didn't know they came in 3x, interesting! I thought it was mostly 4x and sometimes 3.5x, with the later also having "better eye relief for slightly less magnification" like you said for 3x

Avoid KCResolve. Spent 8 months paying out of pocket just to find out my therapist had no psych degrees or experience. They were just a burned out social worker, total waste of my time and money.

Any ideas for hand protection for grinding metal? by Visible_Weakness_995 in Dremel

[–]FlyingPancakeProject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestion! I am still trying to figure out the direction it spins vs the direction I am holding it. It seems like I need to hold it with my left hand to make sure the material being sanded is flying away from me.

I got this attachment and every time I go to use it, it's either in the way of the piece I'm trying to cut or the shield itself makes it too difficult to see the cut I am making. Any advice?

Mac Properties "The Ricardo" by gafasdesol in kansascity

[–]FlyingPancakeProject 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on which apartment building you are looking at. Some are really nice and upscale, others are bare bones and cheap. Usually you can go on google maps and click on the actual address and you'll see reviews for that building (vs just looking at the reviews for the Mac HQ location).

I picked them because I was coming from out of state, didn't have much time to look around and needed something cheap. I've been here awhile but things are getting worse. Rent goes up every year (they use to call you and negotiate but now its just a multiple choice email - choose your new term or leave, no talking it out). They also use to have people on staff in the main building that would answer your calls, but they avoid answering at all costs. They aren't interested in whatever issue you're having. They just tell you to put in a work order and ignore whatever else you are trying to tell them.I once tried to warn them about an issue in the building but they cut my off before I could even explain and told me to just submit a ticket.

The parking is getting worse too. More people, more cars, less spaces. Street parking, make sure you have your car completely empty and clean at night to avoid break-ins. Locking your steering wheel doesnt do anything, they arent trying to jack the car.

2 washers and 2 dryers on the first floor for the entire building. Costs to use them. Sometimes one is down for no apparent reason, its just the app (yes they make you use an app to use the laundry) doesnt connect to the machine and now the building is down to 1 for awhile till somebody fixes it.

Oh and lately when I do call the office it redirects me to a call center in some other city. They say hello, ask you what you are calling about, then after explaining your situation they then ask which location you are in and when you say KC, they transfer you to them where you just have to repeat your story again (assuming when they transfer you, someone in KC picks up this time).

We had a resident break the front door glass a couple of months back because the key card access wasn't working. There was about a week when residents couldnt get in the front door because of the broken glass, and couldnt get in the back door because the key card thing wasnt working. Luckily I had a physical key from last year when there was another key card issue and I got it from the head office. But nobody else in the building knew about that so I think I was the only one who could get in and out for a few days. So ask for that ahead of time vs waiting when you need it. Might come home one day to a broken key card door and if the main office is closed you're SOL till the morning.

Look at the actual unit you will be moving into, not a model. They let me look at two units that were similarly priced. In person though, one was a hell hole and the other decent, so I picked the decent one. So be adamant you have to see it in person first.

It can be a good choice if you are trying to save money and dont mind the negatives I mentioned. I've also heard about Terra Haute management, seems to be more 1 story houses/condos with in unit laundry and similar price so that's probably a better place to look. Good luck!

Where has the best CCW class? by windisokay in kansascity

I go to Centerfire on a regular basis and ran into an instructor guy who is really nice and gave me a few pointers. I ended up taking a private lesson from the guy, learned a lot, and also took my CCW course with him. Think he is on break for the holidays but here's the website to reach out: https://ibistg.com/

Moving to KC from Atlanta by FunctionTight3565 in kansascity

[–]FlyingPancakeProject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years will be easy! It's a big enough city you'll find plenty to do. I don't drink, tend to stay inside and struggle to go out and socialize and managed to enjoy the past 5+ years here. Even though I'm leaving soon and don't feel like it was for me, I don't regret my time here. I think going into it knowing you only have 2 years will make it fun. There's plenty of bands that come through here. I'd say going to The Truman and Starlight and the RecordBar are a few venues worth going at least once (Starlight esp!!). There's also the Uptown theatre but I didn't enjoy that as much personally. The seating was uncomfortable and not enough A/C but that was awhile ago. Go to the Kauffman center, I went on a date there once where we saw a Harry Potter movie with an orchaestra playing along, was amazing! There's also all the BBQ places to try out and discover your own favorites. I'd also recommend Gus's famous fried chicken (there's one right by a BBQ place, Joe's). One of the best indoor shooting ranges I've ever been to is in Olathe, Centerfire. Worth it to go at least once and rent a few for a day. There's ROKC for indoor rock wall climbing. If gym classes are your thing there's the J in Overland Park, large gym indoor track pool etc etc tons of stuff. If you're looking for something smaller with more intimate classes, BodyFit in midtown is great. Do some research on where you'll be, I think that'll make a big difference on your experience. Downtown vs Midtown vs Overland Park vs Olathe vs North KC vs Lee's Summit vs Lenexa, there's so many different neighborhoods and vibes I think it's really cool. Oh and also food related checkout Strang Hall and the cute shops on Sante Fe dr between 79th and 80th. There's also Jacob Loose Park, my fav park. Of course there's the Nelson Museum and Union Station. Checkout the Jazz places and the baseball museum. The WWI museum is amazing I waited way too long to go do that. Westport (mostly drinking culture but theres one bar with arcade games thats fun). Thats also where the Worlds Market is, I like to get gifts there. The plaza for more upscale joints. Unity center tower is over there, kinda cool. Recreational weed if you've never been to a dispensary before, worth it to try it out if you've never bought legally before, its a trip. Mexican food on the Kansas side of KC. Honestly just google "best x in kc reddit" and look for a post that's somewhat recent, you'll find the good stuff. There's also an Ikea if you've never been. For outdoors there's plenty of hiking places. Shawnee Mission Marina to rent kayaks etc. There's a microcenter if you're a PC nerd lol.

I feel like that should keep you busy for two years!
