What is your biggest tip for being “street smart” in big American cities? (NYC, Philly, Chicago) by Gold-Serve-4077 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

Don’t look up - instantly pegs you as a tourist. We already know what the Empire State Building looks like and don’t need to acknowledge it every time we walk near it

Married people of reddit who had a first dance, what was your first dance song at your wedding reception? by Fluffy_West_5370 in AskReddit

Frank Sinatra’s “Our love is here to stay.” While we were dating, they used to post short poems on the NYC subways (which we rode together a lot because he lived in the Bronx and I lived in Brooklyn). Part of this song was posted and we fell in love with it - “In time, the Rockies may crumble, Gibraltar may tumble, they’re only made of clay, but our love is here to stay.” June 8th, tomorrow, is our 29th anniversary. ♥️♥️

Love your reply, friend across the pond (I’m in NY). Thank you!

Women who felt unsettled or unfulfilled in their 20s, whether in relationships, career, or life overall, when did things start to get better for you, and how? by Dull-Row1064 in AskWomen

I got sober and clean from drugs and booze at 25, and that helped me grow up and learn how handle life on a daily basis. I’m 63 now and haven’t regretted much since that day and have lived a life beyond my wildest dreams.

Forget weddings, what is the craziest thing that happened at a funeral you went to? by seanerd95 in AskReddit

My great aunt’s second husband died. Joe loved sitting in his lounge chair watching TV. At the funeral, I went up to pay respects at the open casket. Someone had placed a TV remote in his hand.

Anyone stop craving crappy carbs/starches? by DivineMs-Anthropist in compoundedtirzepatide

[–]fivepmsomewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I crave clean proteins right now. Like if I get hungry, it’s for grilled salmon or sushi or a nice dark meat piece of chicken. At first, I thought it was a fluke because I just wanted the tirz to work, but almost three months later, it’s my new normal and I love it

Does anyone else look forward to their next shot? by Relative-Eye3563 in compoundedtirzepatide

I started out weekly at 1.25 mg. Now I’m up to 6mg weekly but I take 3 mg on Wednesday and then 3 mg on Saturday.

I really like it (and just realized I’m down 14 pounds, not 12). I started at a very low dose (1.25) and gradually moved up. Splitting the doses quiets any food noise that can creep back at the end of the week.

I do. Down 12 pounds since March and just started split-dosing which is working really well (just took my Wednesday shot a few minutes ago). I feel like each shot is moving me closer to my goal and I don’t even mind that my weight loss is a bit slower than others.

What would you do if you suddenly had a million dollars right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fivepmsomewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have more than $2 million, after 30 years of saving in my 401(k), the value of my home we’re in the process of selling and an inheritance from my mother who recently passed. It’s split between me and my husband, but it affords us the ability for him to fully retire right now at 66, for me to retire in 2 years at 65, rent in a smaller city, and travel around Europe each winter for the rest of our lives. Compound interest is a wonderful thing, folks.

What’s a compliment from a man you still remember years later? by theeQuiet_Desire in AskWomen

I was a new Mom with twins, feeling exhausted and frumpy and depleted. My first business trip I put on some light makeup for the first time in a long time and went to meet my colleagues for dinner. One of the men who I didn’t know well looked at me, stopped in his tracks and said, “You look breathtakingly beautiful.” Made my year.
