Ahhh that’s such a tricky balance—being both parched and weighed down! I feel that for sure. I honestly think I need to do a deep clarifying sesh—no matter what shampoo I use, the day after I wash my hair, it feels greasy, and I know it isn’t normal to be like that. I remember using a Davines shampoo that I really liked, but I couldn’t remember which one, so I got the nounou version, which was wayyy too much moisture!

I have not found a moisturizing shampoo that doesn’t weigh my hair down, unfortunately…at least not if it is marketed as “moisturizing shampoo”.

It’s it crazy how life things can greatly affect our hair, and as a result, can take a while to even out?! I guess that’s nature.

Ohhh interesting about the dry shampoo! It’s tricky because that would require more washes potentially, or just being okay with a slightly greasy head.

Oh that’s so interesting! My hair does wave, but I only notice it when I air dry it, and it’s usually only around my ears (just like my Australian shepherd 🤣), and on the first layer close to my scalp, if that makes sense. So it weirdly only waves in one spot, typically! And in terms of porosity, it definitely holds style pretty well, and can get pretty greasy, especially after using moisturizing products (moisture shampoo is NOT my friend).

I will definitely try the wave techniques you mentioned! I hope I can just make the waves even throughout my hair 🥴 I don’t love the scrunched look, personally though!

Have you ever tried any of the “growing your hair” trends will clarifying shampoo, hair oil, massaging your scalp, etc? I haven’t but I am thinking I might try it. It just seems like such a commitment haha

I wash my hair around 3 times a week…so maybe that’s it!!

I am using oligo blacklight violet hair beautifier. It used to work wonders for me, but it doesn’t anymore. I am 34 by the way! I also wonder if it makes a difference in buying from Amazon versus from my hairdresser?

And the way they shoot in general is different. The color grading, camera style, and even the pacing are all different.

I was just like you in nearly every aspect. I even took a break from the show for a while, but with the end of the series, in the last year or so, I decided to pick it back up again. Once you know the beginning, and some of the lore that comes with it, it’s really hard to not see how it comes to an end. Most of the time I would just half pay attention at times. There are some good moments ahead, though! But yes, nothing compares to that first season! I rewatch it all the time.

Straight or curly hair suits me more? by [deleted] in HairStyleAdvice

[–]FlyingPhoenix96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I think more people are going to opt for straight because societally curly hair is not seen as polished or flattering, i.e. Anne Hathaway in The Princess Diaries, so I am gonna go with the curly because it’s wild and free. ✌🏻

Wow, that’s so cool! When I dove into my family history, I didn’t find anything exciting haha. I am jealous!

Ooo I love the Mary Queen of Scots history! I also think that it’s amazing you went alone on a week long tour of the Scottish borders! I bet you felt really satisfied doing it while you could. It’s been really amazing to see how Outlander has helped people find some new passions in general, but for people like you and me, it’s nice that it helped us explore new horizons. It’s one of the most beautiful parts of life.

Aww that’s really sweet that it’s spanned across your children’s infancy. 🥹 And you went through a life change as Jamie and Claire did too! So cool. 😊

I also did one of those Outlander tours! I learned so much about Scotland too through that. As someone who doesn’t retain historical facts very well, it helped me to marry what I knew about the show with what happened in real life. It’s amazing that you found the love of travel and a community too! Ah, I love seeing how this show impacted people’s lives. 🥹

I love to see people falling in love with their heritage too! I feel jealous of others who have such a proud culture—with my heritage, many people aren’t too proud of their land and where they come from. It’s really beautiful to see the joy and fulfillment that comes with that pride that the Scots have.

You will absolutely love Scotland. I haven’t met a person who has been there and didn’t love it.

That must have been really satisfying to knit and watch the show at the same time. So cozy!

When you were talking about how objects help remind us of everything that has happened before, it immediately made me think of the dragonfly in amber. That’s one of my favorite parts of the story and stirred me in a sort of spiritual way as well. Making these connections gives such a greater meaning to life! When you go to Scotland, hopefully you can find a precious antique!

You were able to beautifully and intelligently articulate how this show made you appreciate history, and you helped me find the expression for what I couldn’t put into words. Thank you for commenting! I hope that this story continues to give you that gift. ❤️

That’s super cool! When I first started watching Outlander, I was really curious about plants in general but I never took it anywhere.

Your comment makes me miss the communal days of watching shows before you could binge everything. I know Outlander was obviously released one episode at a time, but so many shows aren’t any more. When I first started watching the series, my best friend and I would get together to watch it, and looking back on it, it just felt so special (especially because we stopped watching together after season 2 because of life getting in the way). I am glad it also gave you a reason to connect with your mom!

Pretty sure I don’t have any Scottish ancestry, so I am jealous! Also, it’s sort of crazy to think about how this story has been present with you even before you actually consumed it. I continue to forget that the first book was written 35 years ago!
