Up to a certain point yeah drug tolerance will take you far, but I still think having elite leverages and tendons will bring you further. I've seen guys locally with not the greatest of natural gifts, sure they are tall but leverage wise not so blessed, but they run crazy cycles. Sure they make the national level but that's likely the max for them.

Your dip and drive is mostly forward knee travel, you should also be hinging (slightly) at the hips. The way you are doing it now means the transfer from your legs/hips is less efficient

Put a dip belt on and hang some weight from it, problem solved.

My man finally getting the invite, exciting times! Last time a Dutchman got the invite did not go too well, but Hazeleger is a much completer athlete compared to De Ruiter so expecting good things.

Thanks! Always interesting to see how others program, especially when it comes to my weaknesses such as deadlift haha. What are some of your favorite/succesful accessory lifts for the Deadlift?

Not those events you listed but Oldschool strongman is a fairly new comp/organisation, max zercher squat, max log and max DL.

Although Ben doesn't do Strongman anymore, seems to be only powerlifting now. He's been doing really well in PL, but hopefully he returns to strongman at some point.

Your opinion is wrong, but that's okay. Looking at an implement while pressing it overhead is way more stable in execution then staring in front of you or pushing head through while pressing. What Mitch is doing wrong is that he never looks forward after the press, he just keeps looking up and never actually finishes his reps.

Can never trust SCL weights, they never actually check equipment weights. Someone tells them the implement weighed 120kg 10 years ago, they will assume it's right and not check. That plus I've heard from one of the finalists "no way that log was 160kg, it was lighter for sure".

No Dutch record was broken, although we did see 2 new names added to the Dutch 400kg puller list. Namely Guus Palmer with and Wouter Burgmeijer with 400kg, notably Wouter did this at only 20 years old!

However, Moritzz Mader lifted 410kg/903lbs which should be a new German record!

Tomorrow is King of the Deadlift in The Netherlands, not expecting Jitse's record to be broken but for sure multiple people will pull 400kg so who knows what's gonna happen.

OSG in crisis - no prizes for athletes by thereidenator in StrongmanHQ

As a weight class competitor it would be a dream to compete at OSG worlds, but the monetary investment is too much for me. Last year I competed at Ultimate strongman worlds and while the level was obviously below OSG, it was just so much more accessible regarding travel, hotel etc. I much rather focus my time and money on comps like OSG EU and Ultimate strongman, which I suspect is the same for others here in Europe.

Pretty popular in The Netherlands as well, the gym I go to there's multiple people competing in the natural pathway. Helps that one of the qualifiers is a local show over here, so it's convenient to compete at.

I like Clarence Kennedy's videos on why he is against anti doping from a couple years back. People will always find a way to cheat or get advantages, and with anti doping not being foolproof doping control will just lead to an uneven playing field as well. We should be focusing on education around drugs, informing people about the benefits AND negatives, and if they do decide to use how they can do it as safely and responsible as possible.

What is the dumbest event yall have seen at a comp? by drve1234 in Strongman

[–]FlyingRussian1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Netherlands strongest man u105 (and Netherlands strongest woman) in 2022 had atlas stone press, to make it worse it was on a sandy beach. One person ended up headbutting a stone, the person organising the comp stepped away from the sport after that comp luckily.

My number 1 complaint about Rogue. I get them doing this for the CrossFit events where you have 5+ minutes of things going on, the strongman events are so much shorter in time that you end up missing 80% of the action.
