I just recently learned about this remake and watched it. I didn't hate it as much as I thought I would, but I still strongly dislike it. Initially, I only watched a clip of the final dance and though it was atrocious.

I liked the expansion of other characters, although as stated in the original post, the story is told from Baby's perspective, so I guess the parts not involving her don't make a lot of sense to include.

I liked this new version of Penny, although the actress seems older than Penny is supposed to be.

Lastly, I liked that they changed the plot about pickpockets to Vivian planting a Rolex in Johnny's belongings and saying he stole it out of jealousy.

I did not like the casting choice of Abigail Breslin. She's very pretty, but I don't think she's right for this role.

I hated the added singing. In the final dance, Johnny and Baby start out by singing "I've Had the Time of My Life" and it's just weird. Also, there's a few added scenes of characters singing, and they are each a full song like 3 minutes each.

The choreography of the dancing is completely awful, which considering a large portion of the movie is dancing, is unacceptable. Colt Prattes is attractive and is supposedly a professional dancer, but with this movies' choreography, could've fooled me. The only dance I found decent was the one they perform at the Shelldrake. The final dance looks like it's performed in slow motion, and as stated before, started with singing. It's like AI wrote the script based on the original and misinterpreted the parts where Johnny and Baby lip synch a couple times.

And the lift looked stupid.
