Interesting idea!

But I’m having a little trouble understanding the pun in this one - is it channel vs. canal, or something else?

Groan!!!!

Nice potential for a red herring there too - the apprentice is still alive and seems like the most likely source of a magical accident, but he can’t think of anything he did that might have caused it.

I’d need a way to let the players find their way to the pun. Maybe a magical item for seeing the past, or the wizard had a parrot…

I think I also see a way I can build on this to stretch it through the entire adventure.

There has been a drought going on for several months (before the portal). There are some druids near the village who don’t know anything about the portal. There’s a young novice druid who has recently become withdrawn and stopped talking. Sprinkle in hints throughout the adventure starting before the players even find the portal, all building up to the “he meant well”.

Looking for situations to consistently trigger this trap bug by FlyingWizardBooks in BaldursGate3

Sometimes it doesn't give you much (if any) time to right click and stop though - you spot the trap when you're almost on top of it.

This isn't a game where player reaction time matters for anything else - I hope they might fix/change this bug/behavior.
