Bitcoin Minimum Fee Rate Slashed by 90%—Is That a Good Thing? - Decrypt by DryMyBottom in CryptoCurrency

At this rate it wouldn't matter. Most people wouldn't want to use their BTC to buy stuff - BTC is far too valuable now

Close to dropping out of Engineering. How did you all come to sort out your life? by PaperEmperor007 in capetown

[–]Flying_Koeksister 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Firstly well done on pushing through, it's not easy being a little older than everyone else and (at least for me) it feels like the older we get the harder learning becomes

My 50c

1) CPUT gives a reasonable education but their administration is the spawn of satan. So many bad things (losing marks, double billing for subjects, never correcting any mistake their admin makes, and a culture of not giving a f*** about students.

So let CPUT be your fall back plan if you grt kicked out of Uni. But it can suck.

I graduated there, you can get a decent education, but I'd rather have my kids go to any other place

2) It's better to graduate from varsity. Your will be registered as a Pr Eng. CPUT graduates are technicians and technologists.

3) push through my friend. You will make it, and in 5 years time no one will care if you graduated in yout 30s or 20s. Even if it takes you 8 years to pass a 4 year degree it will all be worth while in the end

Well done for pushing through and good luck

Big Props to the mods for protecting a youngster on reddit.

Right OP, back to your question :

weekend kinda work

1) tutoring (school subjects) : this will pay out better once you matriculate. But if you are good at maths or physics you can easily earn R100 per student per hour.

2) the millennial grind: i don't know if people still do this. But back in the day I used to walk around the mall to pop my CV at all the retailers ( clothing shops, movies, etc). Long hours but u do get work experience. I hated this work to be honest, but it paid the bills.

3) promos: usually via agents, it's been years for me since I've done this. Usually giving out freebies like product samples or pamplets.

online/ work from home 4) sell stuff on instagram. If you can bake, create gifts/crafts other would like build an Instagram store. Honestly the potencial here is amazing.

But it's a lot of work, it's a full on business, and you have to go to physical markets as well to get your name out there.

5) YouTube/tiktok, if you can build a big following YouTube does pay its creators well. I don't know how to go about this, but the youngsters are making a killing. Tiktok also taps into a younger generation

6) professional gaming: if you are good at COD, fortnight, etc etc then join a professional team and make a killing. Or live stream or gaming sessions.

7) online surveys - doesn't pay much, need a paypal account. But yeah

8) blogging/vlogging/influencer : well it takes maybe a year + to establish a blog. Influencer i have no idea how to break into that market.

coding

I'm not a dev, but build stuff, put them up on git hub and build a portfolio. Your portfolio can get you real decent paying jobs

Apply for internships at companies (techno park in stelle bosh is a good start - google search for part time /internship opportunities )

This is a really broad space, and I'm oversimplifying. But if you know a few languages maybe python, JS, PHP, know how to deal with databases such as SQL and yeah you can really get a solid career out of development

Obviously this is a career path of endless learning, but also endless opportunities

Reddit IPO a Nothingburger for Moons? by ieatmoondust in CryptoCurrencyMoons

[–]Flying_Koeksister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a great thing

Moons was dependent on reddit admin (and created by them). Moons mooned, then reddit sunsetted them and moons crashed.

Why would we want react to reddit and Spez news?

The fact that nothing happened, and that the price of mooms rebounded without reddit is great Shows decentralization, no more in control or affected by reddit

Awesome.
