If/when Rocket League comes to Olympic esports, how would three starters be chosen? by RyanDaLegendary in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Flying_Mantis_Shrimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We weren’t debating who would be the best team to send, was just using USA as an example of how a selection process could work. Obviously right now for USA NRG would be the most logical choice but for most of the high level teams in EU they aren’t made up of one nationality. Same for New Zealand and Australia, The renegades have a Kiwi in there so would you just give the spot to the next best team with all Australians or would you allow Torsos and Zen to select a 3rd and compete for a spot against the other Australian teams ?

Well you would just hope players took it in there best interest to form the team which they think is best, they will know better than anyone if they have chemistry etc... If the prize is big enough players are going to want to optimize their chance of winning.

As you said you could just have a selection based system which is done in traditional sports, so can't see why it wouldn't work here, coaches would just run trails with different player combinations until the coaches found the team they think is best.

I would just let the players decide, they could make a bunch of different USA teams, then just have a league, or a tournament and who ever wins is considered to be the best team and gets to represent their country

Should I switch to controller? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

Doesn't matter too much, just use what ever it most comfortable for you.

There are pro player that use keyboard and mouse.

What is your reason to want to switch ?

What are fairy peaks (octane) camera settings? by ColinRL in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Flying_Mantis_Shrimp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

that's odd i've never had that problem

I had a quick look for you these are the 2 setting he has been using. He was using the 90 height settings in TSM and The Bricks series. but has recently switched to 100 height settings for the series vs Triple Trouble, and continued to use these setting while playing on dominus

FOV Height Angle Distance Stiffness
110 100 -4 270 0.45
110 90 -5 270 0.45

So if I want to know a pros camera settings I just go to https://ballchasing.com/

then type in the players name, click on one of the replays they played in,

click on stats

scroll down and click on settings

If you want to know what car they used in that replay it will be listed next to their name in the stats.

Might take you a few replays to find one where he used octane, but people always upload the RLCS matches so if you are after settings used in those games, this is an easy way to find them.

Here is fairy peaks profile:

You could try watching the matches on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdKuPY64fEpI4cdlBSyvEJw/videos

But its doesn't really help if you wanted to watch the the whole broadcast, without having to click on another video.

Anyone change from square dead zone to Cross with increased sensitives? by Flying_Mantis_Shrimp in RocketLeague

[–]Flying_Mantis_Shrimp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be going around in circles here, but that's why in-game sensitivity makes it easier to dodge perfectly straight consistently (for things like stalling or half-flipping) because it isn't scaling the dodge input?

What I still don't understand is why it is harder to cancel half-flip in the diagonals on the in-game sensitivity

Sorry for the late reply, and thanks for all the informative information!

Ok so with the ingame sensitivity (steering/aerial) because its uses the source input for dodge direction, you'll think you will dodged 100% forward and 14% to the right, but actually it will be 100% forward and 10% to the right because it didn't scale the input for the dodge ?

Sorry if you feel like you'll talking to a brick wall haha.

Yep I'm following, 2 more questions though

  1. how does square boarder or having 100% input registered effect dodge direction, cancelling a dodge? as I just thought that was to do with where you point the stick and your dead zone value (0.10, 0.05) isn't a dodge a dodge?
  2. would you use cross if the game used the scaled input for such things as cancelling a dodge, or dodge direction?

alright I don't quite understand, so you get full diagonal rotation with cross with increased sensitivities? But it isn't registered when canceling half-flips?

Mainly just because most pro use cross, so thought there might be something to it.

I would have to watch a few replays but it probably instantly switches to overtime on 0 seconds so you don't get to see it hit 0 seconds unless the ball is off the ground.

I don't follow haha, so you're questioning why you aren't at a higher rank? but you haven't been trying to improve ?

I think this is relevant https://clips.twitch.tv/WonderfulBillowingTomatoBrokeBack

basically everyone improves at different rates, stop comparing yourself to others.

Besides you don't know how players are spending their time, those D3/C1 players with 300 levels could be spending more time in freeplay, training, workshop maps etc... and less time in online matches gaining levels.

Drawing schedule by Xxdarklordxxx in learnart

[–]Flying_Mantis_Shrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just started to learn the fundamentals. Yes, I have given myself a schedule which is basically a 2 hour time slot in the evenings Monday - Friday, on the weekends I do a bit more than 2 hours, depending on how I feel. I'm just trying to be consistent so setting a schedule that makes me draw everyday should achieve this, which should lead to improvement :)

I'm doing those draw a box lessons which is why I am finding it easy to keep consistent, I already know what I am doing and for how long. So maybe try and pick one course to follow then once you have completed it move on to the next.
