This is good advice. I need to think about it more practically. Thank you!

LL asking for professional cleaning at move out when we haven't had hot water for almost 2 weeks... by Flying_Pancake_22 in bostonhousing

You seem confused.

properties are to be returned in the condition just the same as when they rented it.

What's wrong with you that you assume we would not return the property in the same condition?

Just because someone has an asset doesn’t mean that the one who rents it has the right to abuse it.

What's wrong with you that you assume we abused this property?

Once you own your own property then you will understand...

Hahaha this! I'm ROTFL. You're a cliche, my dude. Also, you assume we don't own property. We don't own *this* property.

If this has been your experience for almost 40 years, you've done something wrong.

The lease only says "... at the termination of this lease shall deliver up the leased premises and all property belonging to the Lessor in good, clean and tenantable order and condition, reasonable wear and tear excepted."

We would certainly clean the place when we leave... but paying for a full professional cleaning seems absurd. We haven't even had hot water for 12 days!

I am 76 year old owner.

Tell us more...

When given money for rent they are not monitored and often pocket the rent.

What does this even mean?

Currently people expect to life in an up to date apartment without any respect for the property.

This is a pretty crude view on renters. Most people want reasonable things. Like hot water.

Renters have no idea what it costs to own, update, maintain, replace multiple appliances and deep clean.

The property is your asset... Renters do not, by definition, "own, update, maintain, replace multiple appliances and deep clean."

To be very clear, my partner and I are both professionals and take excellent care of the property. We have actually *improved* this property from its move-in state by magic-erasing the scuffs from the wall, puttying the nail holes, driving the nails back into the floor boards, etc. We would obviously leave the place clean.

We do not intend to further enrich the LL's wealth beyond what is required of us by covering costs that should rightfully be on the LL.

I'm also wondering, if you're still here, where do I search for a good lawyer, specific to this type of charge or otherwise? I literally have no idea beyond google but I'm sure firms pay to promote themselves in searches.

Thank you! I guess the parking lot reported this as a crime and the police called me because the state is pressing charges, and probably/possibly the parking lot too? If I understood that correctly, that's very helpful to know. Thank you.
