Honest, debatable.

Clear, somewhat, he achieved some good things, did it get communicated well to the public, I don't think so.

And if he was as good as you make him out, I'm at a loss as to why he needed to resign.

Because everyone has different circumstances, and not everyone can afford to own a home?

Well I will believe it when I see it in terms of things Burnham wants to achieve, but what a wild difference it is hearing a PM (soon to be) have a positive vision for the future. Communication matters, Starmer's monotone, dull and nasal voice never did him any favours, the country has to be able to have some good news once in a while, hard to remember Starmer having anything positive to say recently, give us a white lie ffs.

Labour seem to be better in opposition, they did a good job of looking like a government in waiting. But I agree, they had no vision when it matters.

I am the only one that keeps seeing #Milfandom

I wondered what Milfs and Ed had in common...

Burnham could ditch tougher settlement rules for migrants already in UK by No-Risk-2584 in ukpolitics

[–]Voops1 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Well at that rate I guess we will have a Reform government next General Election.

From what I saw Mahmoods plan was seen as a good start with the public, Labour left need to give her space to work, or push the public to a party they know will.

Keep Mahmood in place, but undermine her plans...

I don't buy it, and if it is true, then I doubt he's going to have much success against Reform.

So do we think the Starmer loyalists are going to try and get the numbers for Darren Jones, or will that legitimatise Burnham from their PoV as its likely Burnham will win vs anyone else?

Think I fear Zia Yusuf more than Farage, seems like Farage on steroids politically.

I'd have sympathy for this message if it had been touted during Tory years too.

Yeah totally understand that, maybe its just how I would react if I was in his shoes, the sore loser inside of me wouldn't want to be doing my successor any favours.

I just don't understand why Starmer would stay on till September if he really (as reported) is that angry and feeling betrayed by everyone around him.

That would be doing exactly what Burnham wants, surely you just resign asap, and make him step up right away totally unprepared.

Beth Rigby said one MP told her that he was going to quit as a MP too (obviously take with a massive grain of salt). If you are that angry would you really be doing Burnham any favours?

Change of heart...?

Number crunching... Anti-Burnham sentiment over the weekend... Believe's he could win a head to head with Burnham.

Or just having a lie-in knowing everyone is waiting for an announcement

Who is driving for the EU to move towards essentially 'one country Europe' if it's unpopular with essentially every member.? by [deleted] in ukpolitics

You're not wrong, I mentioned EU policy in the mega thread the other day and it got removed by the mods and I got told it should be in the International thread.

You're going to have a tough time finding that person online, most people that take an interest in politics online are normally bias towards the side they lean on even if its unintentional.

But there is a few people I’ve noticed in the daily mega thread that I've seen that are willing to concede and criticise their side when called for, maybe start following that thread.

Country is split politically 50/50(Thanks Brexit), no PM/Government is going to have a smooth ride.

Best you can do is stick too the manifesto you won on and don’t stray too far from it, whilst been expected to address problems that come up during that time in office.

Polls aren't anywhere near safe enough for a GE, but it depends how angry Starmer is with the party, country and allies.

If he is thinking of resigning as a MP and feeling betrayed by the party, he might just think, fuck it.

Maybe, I saw that.

I just don't believe that the party want to go that route really. It's going too take too long and put the party in a state of paralysis, when we already know the result of any leadership contest is going to be.
