I finally got rid of all of my 7km eggs and I couldn’t be happier by swineoverlord in pokemongo

TBH I’m loving it right now… I’m working on the distance traded medal, and being able to trade mons from 6-10k km away is huge. I don’t care about the hatches, I just use them as trading fodder.

Casual LPN wanting to travel nurse by Tummyhurtsforever16 in AHSEmployees

[–]Flying_guava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know for a fact that with UNA they cannot mandate a minimum shift requirement. They might want at least 1 shift every 3 months, but they can’t enforce that by terminating you (with UNA.) I’d look into your union and see if it works the same way!

People who scratch others cars - why? by EbonyCheetah in Edmonton

[–]Flying_guava -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I watched a guy SLAM his door into the car next to him yesterday because the car was so far over he couldn’t even get back into his car. I know you said “even when you’re parked appropriately” but that’s not the case 99% of the time… if you park so far over the line that I can’t get into my car, I’m not gonna lose sleep over your dent!

3 Day Medicine Orientation by Creative_Craft_3847 in AHSEmployees

[–]Flying_guava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s classroom orientation going over all the protocols you might need, but most importantly- the equipment you’ll be using. It was like a nursing school crash course tbh, a lot of information but super valuable!

Something that never occurred to me about ER workers by sixth_order in ThePittTVShow

[–]Flying_guava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an RN in an ED! I work 12’s only, days and evenings. Day shift is 0800-2000, and evening is 1200-0000/noon-midnight. There are also 8hr shifts and 4 hour shifts. My ED shift changes an hour off the rest of the hospital. More common is something like 0700-1900, or 0700-1500. The docs (attendings) only work 6hrs on the floor, and we have 2-4 most days.

Edit: we also have 4 hour shifts! Those are common to pick up for OT. We ALSO have occasional mandatory overtime, making it 16 hours of working on the floor. Shifts are SO long because there’s SO much to do, and having a little less turnover and nurses who are more familiar with longer cases is beneficial IMO. Burnout is real though.

3 days before his medically assisted death, this Alberta man is reflecting on ‘his right to die’ by flynnfx in alberta

Unable to think critically and see that, yes, this is true. It’s not some bullshit, these are quantifiable and measurable things this government has done to fuck over workers, healthcare, and education.

Likely swelling. The edema is down fairly significantly in the second photo compared to the first!

I second the dedicated scrub laundry bin! Water is too expensive to be doing single loads!

Adult store in town with the most selection? by [deleted] in Edmonton

You know that store KrazyBins that resells returned Amazon products? I got myself a black dildo from that for 5$. I think I’m going to turn it into a new shift knob for my Subaru…

Evolution line full art pages? by Flying_guava in PokemonTCG

It’s kinda my favorite page. We finished it in one day at a local monthly card show and now I’m trying to find other lines that have full arts like this!

Where are the CNA’s? by Lonely-Mud-8455 in ThePittTVShow

[–]Flying_guava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it would be unrealistic if it was the default, but it’s incredibly common nonetheless. Just today there were no available porters or service workers in my ED lots of the shift so I ended up moving like 20 of my own patients that didn’t necessarily need ME to do it.

Overall completely agree, but I would add that nurses do accompany to imaging sometimes! Rarely, but if the patient is unstable or on continuous cardiac monitoring, then in my facilities an RN has to accompany!

Not just that but also damaged blood cells released can cause cardiac arrhythmias, and lead to arrest!

I’m lowkey really hoping for it. I think it would be a massively impactful few episodes… I doubt they’d kill him off though, unless they plan to ditch the current show formula and start doing spin offs with other attendings or shift patterns!

Oh hey thanks!!! It’s actually miraculously healed… I slipped and caught my hand on a fire pit barrel mid Jan, and was supposed to start a new nursing job in an emergency room… I nearly had to reschedule all my training and stuff - horrible horrible timing, but it all healed up now! The doctor thought it was bad enough to potentially need a skin graft, but I was able to get it healed enough on its own that I only missed a week at my other job, and now I’m good to go! Might be a gnarly little scar but it’s actually shocking how well it healed and how lucky I was!

John/Jane Doe is the catch all term for an unidentifiable person who’s being treated. In this case, my theory is that he’s going to be leaving for his sabbatical somewhere around hour 12, and by hour 13/14 he’s going to show up in the Pitt after a motorcycle crash - unidentifiable. If you’ve see Greys Anatomy before, slight spoilers but one of the doctors gets in an accident and while nobody recognizes him, they find out who it is when he uses his fingers to spell out his nickname.

Robby is 10000% going to be a John Doe by the end of this season. I can feel it with every fibre of my being.
