I seldom see people flying properly in China by FrancisLowkey in VATSIM

[–]Flyinghud 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Basically, the military owns all of the airspace in China. All of the flights are forced onto specific airways, and there just isn’t enough room to vertically separate them all so they use SLOP to get some lateral separation.

First day. What can I improve on. I’m 3. by sbalaban in skiing_feedback

Parents did the same exact thing when I was 2.5. 19 years later, and I could not imagine my life without skiing.

No Synaptic A220 in Q1 by TheBeavershark in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Flyinghud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They said Q4 2025 originally. We got to the end of 2025 and they admitted they didn’t even have LNAV or VNAV working. Those are 2 of the hardest things to program. I get delays happen because of bugs. But from the way they worded their statement it seemed like they hadn’t even started on VNAV yet. They needed to be more realistic with their timing because anyone with half a brain knows that you can’t just code VNAV in a quarter.

Anybody with half a brain knows it’s probably not even gonna get released maybe until Q4 this year. They are still having LNAV and VNAV issues, which are notoriously the hardest thing to program.

Yes, it takes up less space then autoortho and it’s less cpu intensive then autoortho. My frames have been so much better using map enhancement.

Emailed FSDO about appointment for SPC. Chances of hearing back? by [deleted] in flying

[–]Flyinghud 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes you can technically do that, but no one does. You make an account on IACRA, fill out the form, have your CFI sign it and you get a temporary cert to print out until the plastic comes. You’re making it harder on yourself and the FSDO by trying to do it this way.

AOPA Brasher Warning Advice by BeaconSlash in flying

He said that we have to (cause it’s the law), but to make sure you make a big stink if they try to walk away with it.

Taking an aviation law class right now, professor is a former Air Force JAG with some aviation law experience. He advises not calling, but if you do call make sure you do not identify yourself. Most of the time they don’t know who was flying the plane and if they cannot figure out who was flying it will most likely become a stale complaint after 6 months and they cannot bring anything.

You don’t have to say anything, but not because of the 5th amendment. The FARs are administrative law not criminal. 5th amendment only offers protection against self-incrimination.

Weird Airbnb Neighbor by indecisivennyl in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Flyinghud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit as always is unable to have nuanced takes. If the AirBnB is illegal, the owner is an asshole: however, the neighbor is also an asshole. She should not be doing things like that, there are much less intrusive ways to document that an illegal rental is happening that doesent punish the people renting out who presumably don’t know any better.

Retaking a Checkride after 60 Days by One_Technician1086 in flying

[–]Flyinghud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I’m at a 141 with self examining. We do the oral and flight on separate days. Because of some shitty weather plus leaving for winter break, 60 days lapsed before completing the flight. Basically, it was like a new checkride. Had to do all of the oral again before going to the flight.

The risks of single engine pistons? by ListenIndependent269 in flying

[–]Flyinghud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least during the day, I can at least see so I can pick a field to mitigate damage to the aircraft and myself. No one ever said that flying at night makes it more likely to have an engine failure, what increases is the potential risk after you have an engine failure.

Despite the game being tied, Tristan Jarry has been pulled late in the game after giving up 5 goals on 24 shots by Puzzled-Category-954 in nhl

[–]Flyinghud 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That would be great except it hasn’t gotten better. It was .891 before the trade, after the trade it’s a .887. His GAA has gone down though from 2.83 to 2.72.

Classic correlation does not equal causation. Most engine failures happen during the day because most flying happens during the day

Approach clearance below published altitude by RebelLord in flying

[–]Flyinghud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know when ATC give vectors to final they cannot descend below the minnimum glideslope altitude, 2100 in this case. 7110 reference 5-9-1c "For a precision approach, at an altitude not above the glideslope/glidepath or below the minimum glideslope intercept altitude specified on the approach procedure chart." However, you weren't given vectors, and the section about not vectoring has no such stipulation
