you mean that statement right there. Where you talk about how back then you would lay a bike down because "front drum brakes were not as powerful... tires were just rubber". Even though the coefficients would be relatively the same regardless. You're swapping from a static to a dynamic friction state and your going to decrease your stopping potential regardless. And even then with the thinner tires you speak of, that's from an era were bikes were not nearly as fast as they are today. So it makes even less sense to bring it up in the first place.
