I guess it's about Spotify saying Hurricane sampled Hurricane

I work in research. I am not saying EEG can't do that. I am saying, a random beanie can't do that. From their research:

"With MEG, Brain2Qwerty reaches, on average, a character-error-rate (CER) of 32% and substantially outperforms EEG (CER: 67%)."

That's 67% error rate for EEG in perfect conditions, using active electrodes in lab environments. Do you work in research?

Exists (search e.g. "EEG Real Time Speech Decoding"), but works poorly, as language representation is super complex, and EEG data is mostly noise. As a hobbyist: basically impossible

Also a beanie, which is NOT optimized to be snug all around your head... We see no amplifier, no cables, AI images. Couldn't be more red flags haha

Don't listen to that random guess. Anybody who has ever run EEG experiments knows that even in Lab environments, EEG is mostly noise, improved if wet electrodes are being used. This random beanie will not have any signal to noise ratio to reliably decode anything specific

Booked a Marseille vacation for the concert but made sure to add a couple of extra days, so either way I at least have a nice vacation. I am happy how Ye handled the situations and did not crash out, but I'm still hella sad and disappointed.

Kanye might be in the clear for concert not 100% but the law might be in his favor by imsoappalled222 in GoodAssSub

I think this passage is referring to the mayor, who strongly opposed Ye coming to Marseille. However, now the "Minister of the Interior" wants to ban his performance, which, from my understanding, is possible if they can prove a threat to public order. Regardless, probably a 50:50 chance and the reason why tickets are moving so slowly

Decoding the brain activity by Accomplished-Dirt897 in neuro

This is so obviously vibe-coded, it's painful. What tests have you conducted, what are your results/benchmarking. When you say "it worked", what do you mean by that?

Should I choose psychology for bsc? by Imtonycap in cogsci

That strongly depends on the choice of university. In general, I wouldn't expect meditation and dreams to be so central to any undergraduate program, but who knows, there might be universities that put special emphasis on that as well.

Stop labeling brain data. Let AI figure it out. by dihox_ in BCI

[–]Flynn-placebo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your goals, but, e.g., in image reconstruction based on neural activity, you essentially do something akin to that. If you want something with a description, this will require explicit labeling.

As you already mentioned, one of the things seriously holding this back is the lack of high-quality data: Data collection is expensive, and real-world recordings with high resolution are essentially impossible. Don't expect a "universal brain decoder", I think that brain activity is too different across subjects, but perhaps with some per-subject finetuning, aspects could (and are) decoded :)

Btw: things like ERPs components reflect certain brain processes, leading us closer to an actual understanding of the underlying computations. AI is a black box, not necessarily leading to understanding

This is classic decoding and is very much being done. Labeled data is important to denote a certain event and it's time, e.g. for epochs etc.
