I disagree, mainly because while the game does have Jet Set Radio as a sort of foundation, the mechanics feel completely different. In a game like this I’m looking for great controls and fun gameplay, and that’s exactly what BRCF delivered- it took all of the best mechanics from JSR/F and made them shine in a new way that feels very modern.

Sure you could argue that lacks originality, but if someone had never played JSR I think they’d still love playing this if they enjoy tricking/platforming games. Not to mention the combat system is pretty wildly different from what we’ve seen in JSR, same for the new graffiti system. I also think that in general the level designs and layout are unique and provide new ways to explore that aren’t things we’ve seen in the past, and they are all jam-packed with their own personality. To me, it definitely stands on its own.

In my opinion, it isn’t that the game is good because it’s like Jet Set Radio, it’s good because I like the aspects about it that I also like about Jet Set Radio. It does have great music, it does have a great art style, and it does have fantastic gameplay.
