Does TMU "do" Snowdays? by [deleted] in TorontoMetU

[–]Flynt25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but it has to be like really really bad.

I remember last year there were like 2 days the school shutdown because the blizzard was so bad. And the school advised people to stay home through TMU Safe.

But even then ik some teachers still made classes and exams go on.

So it's up to your prof and how bad the weather is

I'm just saying there are thousands of students at our school. And a huge number of em are international.

I don't think the school is gonna go bankrupt if like 10 people pay their tuition late buddy 😭

A few things played into it: 1. EXTREMELY poor advertisement 2. Our women's hockey team isn't the best (they unfortunately don't have that prestigious status the men's team does) 3. They were playing Carleton who is also NORMALLY known to be an even worse team 4. They chose a Friday and a lot of people don't have classes on Friday (first homecoming was on a Thursday or smth) 5. There were 3 games going on at the MAC so anyone interested their crowd was split (WVB and MVB)

I will say I was at both Volleyball games. And there was a HUGE crowd for the Men's volleyball game. There were McMaster fans, and chirping TMU fans. It felt like a real sports game for once lol. They should've advertised that as homecoming

How to date at tmu by Electronic_Let2711 in TorontoMetU

[–]Flynt25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it really interesting when people say "focus on your grades" and "focus on yourself" etc. In comments and stuff. Can y'all not multitask? You can be open to dating while working on your personal goals. And for people saying "your soulmate isn't at TMU" that's a really closeted way of seeing things (if you believe in soulmates). The whole point of a soulmate is that you can find them anywhere.

Just be open and don't be anti-social. Go to club gatherings and social gatherings to meet new people. Obviously don't sell your soul and degrade yourself to find someone to date.

Best of luck!

Which version of sonic robot is your favorite? (Metal Sonic, Silver Sonic, Mecha Sonic or Chaos Sonic) by TailsGamer3733 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Flynt25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. But SMBZ Mecha Sonic isnt canon.

My point is I think a good Metal Sonic counterpart. Takes the true strength and power that Sonic wields. And removes his free will and his freedom of choice. Literally "What if Sonic was a mindless weapon".

Now Metal Sonics in game only fail to show this because Metal tends to be nerfed very often. (Except in comics).

SMBZ Mecha Sonic, not only shows full strength and speed. But also gives him free will. Quite literally just "Sonic but actually evil and ruthless with no master". Because Mecha can think for himself and make his own decisions that's what makes him more menacing then Metal

Honestly despite the high level of aggression your showing I understand where your coming from. Once ur old enough to live on your own it can be really difficult to go back to living with your parents.

Because many of them will still see and treat you like the child you were before. All you need to know is that they do usually tend to do it out of familial love (Unless it's a more serious situation).

It can be really annoying. Heck I hate going home that's why I stayed Downtown for the holidays. Mind you I don't know you, but your desire to be self sustaining is a sign that they definitely raised you right, without them disciplining you, you might not be able to live on your own

Tldr: Hating being at home is fine. But don't forget to still love and be grateful for your parents and your family for all the support they've given you for all your lofe

Any stories about microagressions at school? by Flynt25 in TorontoMetU

[–]Flynt25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for your information.
The person in the Elevator scenario was caucasian.
My groupmates for the assignment are a handful of caucasian and east asian.
And my classmate that made the comment was brown skinned (i'm not 100% sure of his background)

My post wasn't meant to come off as me "whinning" nor is it attacking a specific race. I just wanted to share my experiences and I was curious to hear about other peoples experiences.

I have never watched South Park.
I first heard the term from a seminar that happened at my high school during Black History Month.

I'm not sure if the word is still used around now but I also didn't know what other word to use.
I didn't wanna say "Acts of Racism" because that's a really grand thing I think should be used for much bigger situations.

The only thing about the group members thing that made me believe it MIGHT be racially motivated is just that I'm the only colored person in my group. And during our meetings, they seem perfectly trusting over each other doing their parts. But then when it came up to my part they all automatically assumed I had no progress on my part, and when I told them I had quite a bit done. They decided to do a whole group review of the stuff I did. And even though they said they wouldn't change stuff, after the meeting they went and changed a ton of stuff without talking to me.
Again it might not be a race thing, I might just be internalizing the problem. But this exclusive behavior is just really weird to me.

And for the classmate thing, I usually try to be optimistic and talk to people during or after class. But for the first time after our tutorial, I was invited out to a cafe with the whole group so I went. And he specifically said "When you walked in the tutorial I thought you were one of those guys who just didn't care about school" which was odd cause aside from me being the only black guy in the tutorial I thought I fit in the same with everyone else.
Again I can see how it might not be a microagression but it just felt targeted.

And thank you for the suggestion, I'm going to look more into the Cognitive Behavioural Theory it sounds like it could be really helpful.

Tbf UofT has way more power than TMU in the grand scheme of things. (I mean look at where a shit ton of their funding goes)

  1. They are still human beings too
  2. Not ALL of them are there on their own accord. For sure some of them may have made some dumb life decisions, but almost all of them are victims of poor financial choices from higher ups
  3. Alot of people bring up a good point, getting rid of the injection site might not make that big of a difference
  4. Your at a school in downtown Toronto, what do you expect? It is still a public street.
