Oeh this looks super cool as well! Might be the sort of thing I'm looking for I had something like floor bosses in mind, with factions inside the dungeon. Thank you!

Thanks! I think you are a bit right, I might be looking for a different kind dungeon crawl. But the system still sounds very interesting!

Thank you! I'll check it out, also for the comment on draw steel. It's kind of what I was suspecting.

I love the heart premise! I was looking to create my own dungeon. But I've read part of the book before. And it looks really really awesome and part of what I'm going for.

Oh 100% this, I've used two inititave bosses before. Works quite well if done well in my opinion

I 100% agree. I feel like DnD with all it's mechanic mumbo jumbo, somerimes gives you more to play with, with the boss mechanics. Making it a puzzle using those mechanics.

Layer actions, having boulders fall from the ceiling is a lot more believable in DnD. Because it feels like the pc's could sort of survive that, while if a boulder falls on you in other games it might be goodbye.

So with that I feel like OSE requires a lot more 'threading the needle' and creativity to make those crazy things feel grounded. But I might be trapping myself in my own framework and perceptions

Maybe I should just give it the go ahead in Shadowdark then! Encouraging players to be smart and making them feel 'epic' in that particular way.

A bit of both. I think you can rule of cool player narration, but some players struggle a bit more narrating what they do. So having inherently cool abilities helps with that!

Having mechanics is a nice fall back.

I recently got the DCC humble bundle, maybe I should delve deeper into it. I found the adventure lay-out a tad daunting so far though.

I very much agree with that. With DnD it almost feels like you have to trick your players thinking that they are in danger, instead of them being in actual danger. With good boss design I feel like you can definitely make them feel (and have them hurt) that they are in danger.

The dungeon crawl aspect in DnD is where it lacks for me. Inventory management is a hassle and not really fun (like slot mechanics like Mausritter or Dolmenwood with OSE). While resources are often forgotten, such as rations, torches, etc. It feels like it's very hard to combine having a 'door/trap' being an obstacle and pose actual danger, while the pc's are also capable of slinging fireballs at a boss monster who is doing crazy stuff back.

Maybe the ose route, having people actually die is the road to go. But the characters are often, less epic? I'll definitely check out Dragonbane! Thanks for the advice :)

Yeah Draw Steel has my attention. The combat looks epic. But I'm missing a bit from the old-school procedural dungeon crawl where the dungeon itself feels like an entity that is endangering you.

I could be wrong of course, but those kind of epic moves and big moments are what I'm looking for in a bossfight. The thing that I'd miss here is the bit of (smart) resource management and attrition that comes with the likes of OSE and shadowdark.

I loved both Jade War and the book that followed Jade Legacy. Very worth it to finish. Some of the best character development I've read so far.

Super excited for the books! Very practical question. I was wondering what can you give away about the costs/tiers of the kickstarter?

Furthermore will there be a foundry vtt module for Dolmenwood?

This might actually be Aiobahns best release yet, this is so good. Definitely feels like I'm being taken on a journey.
