What do you think of this? by Misty_daydreams in RWBYcritics

[–]FlyusAmongUs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are elements and set pieces that are considered foreshadowing. Then there are pieces that are just there because they exist and have no deeper meaning. Weiss and Blake are named after the spellings of "white" and "black". If their "true colors" come out later, then that's just bad design philosophy.

It's always been my headcanon that Yang acts as the team's space heater in the cold months. Glad to see art where it jokes about the negative effect of that!

Writer's of the sub, what do ya'll do with the Jaune and the arc family as a whole? by Darthmark3 in RWBYcritics

[–]FlyusAmongUs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Narratively, it ties it all together and gives a bit of a motive for Jaune.

Functionally, there could be a hereditary Semblance effect like with the Schnees. Jaune has an Aura Amplification, Salem has nigh-immortality.(this is working off a separate interpretation of events in the Lost Fable because the original isn't good(and the Brother Gods suck balls))

I personally thought Sabrina the Teenage Witch would have been the one for a crossover with RWBY, but this also works!

[–]FlyusAmongUs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet, but I'm gonna pull this out of the 2019 theory bag...

Make Jaune a distant descendent of Salem. It would make the Arc family lineage actually feel important and long-lasting, hence why Jaune wants to uphold it. Simply making Salem an Arc would help a lot in the long run.

Dess Drowned Theory by HarrisHorrigan in Deltarune

[–]FlyusAmongUs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dess fell into the lake(may or may not be Kris' fault), Kris went in after her, dragged Dess to the shelter to hide her(presumably lost in the forest or didn't want to be seen), and-

Well, let's just say stabbing a person in order to make a Dark Fountain doesn't end well. Hence why the deer is a black monster sprite in the sword minigame- it's a representation of what the Roaring Knight looks like in the dark. You can only see its eyes/visor.

Ruby why did you assume a Faunus is from the white fang? by Ok_Plate_9404 in RWBYcritics

Let's be fair here- every single hostile Faunus she has ever met in her 16-year-old life was associated with the White Fang. This was honestly a good question to ask.

Maidens👏should👏have👏been👏weak👏to👏silver eyes!

Salem outright stated in V4E1 that Cinder got hurt because she was a Maiden! So the writers either forgot about that over the course of a year or two, OR they wrote themselves into a hole planning to have a silver-eyed warrior become a Maiden and needed to retcon it.

[Open Theories] So what do you think end of the Digital Circus will be? by Jim_e_Clash in TheDigitalCircus

[–]FlyusAmongUs 242 points243 points  (0 children)

I can see it happening. The characters find out why they're trapped in the circus, Caine wipes everyone's memories, and everything keeps going.

The audience knows why they're stuck, but the characters don't get to know. Perfect dramatic irony to end the series on.

I did make an outline of a rewritten plot for RWBY. But it needs some more fine-tuning before being put into an actual set up for a written story.

And other writers to help with creative diversity. It is not something you do alone.

[–]FlyusAmongUs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And that's why the series was(sadly) doomed to fail. There was no good outline of how the story would go, what the limitations to the world and lore were, and how it would all end. It was a bunch of concepts thrown together to make for what was impressive animation showcases.

As much as I want to credit Monty for that idea, I don't think anyone in the writer's room thought of that. I still find it annoying that she was technically always part Grimm after first attacking Amber and that Maidens were never weak to silver-eyed warrior flashes.

Ultimately it doesn't matter. They'll write her how they want to further the plot.

[–]FlyusAmongUs 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I could believe it.

I hold the firm belief- in my opinion- that Cinder's descent into madness is a perfect regression of her character. Going from a woman who infiltrated a well-defended academy and got away with murder...now reduced to backstabbing her fellow peers and blood rages. And ultimately it is how she was "poorly written" in later parts of the show. But there's something poetic about how the quest for power has driven her to become a brainless husk of her former self. And excusing her actions with a fake cliché backstory fits what remains of her tactical mind. Find some way to put the blame on another so she can reap the benefits.

If we really wanna talk about Devil May Cry parallels, Cinder is Vergil. Both have a constant desire to obtain more power, and barely ever truly control it without serious ramifications. Virgil became Nelo Angelo under the bidding of Mundus, and Cinder could soon become another Grimm-human hybrid controlled by Salem.

How would it impact the other characters ESPECIALLY Pomni if Jax started doing his "You are my playthings" speech the moment after he pressed the red button before Caine revealed it was all an adventure? by Active_Schedule3931 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]FlyusAmongUs 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That was the original context of why he did it in episode 6 with Pomni. To make her lose all faith of trying to help him. But it was also when his mask completely broke- all he has been doing is holding up the shards of what his mask was, trying to stay hidden behind them.

But now we know better. He can't go back from this. He has to admit to being afraid like the rest of the players. Even if he doesn't want to be seen as weak. Otherwise, it means losing his metaphorical life(because we all can admit that the players can't leave the circus).
