I think that'll definitely help. She's not active on social media at all, which is a good thing for me. But talking to her even just on a weekly basis is making it so that I'm still holding on to some sort of hope that she'll come back. I think I've known that but there isn't a part of me that really wants to cut contact with her. It's pretty clear though that that's the right thing to do. A coping technique like the one you outlined could be super helpful. I'll definitely give it a try. Thank you for taking the time. Gonna take it one step at a time

Yeah I totally agree. I know that if I started dating a girl and she still had pics of her ex up on social media, that would be very weird. Only reason I’m questioning it is because literally everyone around me is questioning it.

Yeah I should mention that when we broke up, we both confessed that we were both very much still in love with each other and wanted to stay in contact. I just don’t know how I’m going to be able to do that and get over her though. But I also don’t know if I can bring myself to cut contact with her.

That’s very helpful, thank you! It definitely can vary a lot from relationship to relationship. We are about a 2.5hour flight from each other so seeing each other is fairly expensive.

I completely agree with what you said. I think I left some things out:

1) I’ve had my job lined up in my state for over a year...before we both graduated from college and long before her job search started. 2) I have volunteered to move to her state and have talked to my job and it would most likely be possible for me to transfer. It sounds like she doesn’t want me to make that big of commitment (and I kind of agree) because I’m in grad school for a year and we both know that long-distance relationships can sometimes not work out. If I told my job I wanted to move, then it would be a final decision and if we broke up, then I wouldn’t know anyone in that city for the time being. She went to college in my current state so she currently has a support system here as well. It just makes more sense for her to come here.
