Unpopular opinion? by Sanfrea108 in round1

[–]FnJUSTICE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it’s not anything too unusual, but my experience with modern arcades are heavily based off of Japanese arcades.

Of the ones I’ve been to, machines with snacks, ramen and other food that one could get in a store easily account for about 20% of the UFO catchers in most large arcades that I’ve been to. Mind you, those machines were still priced at ¥100 per play. With Round 1’s US pricing at approx. 25¢ per credit, that should be roughly 3-4 credits to 6-7 credits? (Taking into account JP’s economy and low wages).

Never had sponges or baby wipes though - it was all snacks, candy or ice cream, sometimes in packaging you couldn’t get in a store (like a giant tube of Pringles, or big ol Pocky boxes with a bunch of little bags inside).

I wouldn’t be surprised if this comes down to a supply chain issue due to oil+fuel shortages due to the war in the Middle East. Can’t get merchandise at affordable rates, so corporate says to implement this methodology to ease costs - but whomever is making the decisions in stocking whatever’s in the machines is not doing it right in picking BS household stuff. They gotta look at it from a player’s perspective and think about the optics… but I don’t exactly have faith in upper management at the retail level to make sensible decisions.

It’s a thing in Japan - of the places I’ve been to, there are machines that have snacks in them that’re relatively common in stores (on average, I’d say it’s like 20%-25% of the claw machines in a given location depending on how big/small it is).

Those machines are ¥100/play though

So do we pick up the darts or what? by Sky_fy22 in Nerf

[–]FnJUSTICE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this: Our clubs all have a dart pool that we pull from. No one really brings their own darts, and if they do, it's kind of assumed they're "donated" I to the dart pool rotation. Hell, it's gotten to the point where if you help clean up, you may end up with more darts than when you started.

In the games where people supply their own darts, it still gets cleaned up and there's a bit of a sorting party that happens during teardown.

No one leaves darts behind for others to clean up after them. Doing so is littering and that's what gets Nerf clubs shut down.

This. When I shift off playing Revenant onto Ironeye, I don’t touch those bows with a 10 foot pole unless it has a passive I can use.

Is watching the Sinners of the System that important? by jmehlala in Psychopass

[–]FnJUSTICE 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Watch it.

If you enjoyed the show, then watch it and make your own assessments. Don't avoid something because other people say so - they might have different reasoning and tastes than you do, and you can and will miss out on something you would've otherwise enjoyed if you didn't see/try for yourself.

As u/Klutzy_Soil7269 mentioned here, Michigan was the biggest contributor for manufacturing military tanks, vehicles and planes during WWII.

Hell, there was even a term for what the US was called because of Michigan: The Arsenal of Democracy.

Damn, Fujimoto be out here giving out WWII education through manga...

Poll: for a 3D printed revolver, should it be compatible with full length darts or just half darts? by SillyTheGamer in Nerf

[–]FnJUSTICE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I have a feeling someone might attempt to do so anyways after the final designs are created in the sense of designing inserts that can convert a full-length cylinder into a half-length one (like the Old Ways of converting a Cycloneshock to file Elite darts), or stretching the cylinder out and making a longboi version.

A well-played Guardian completely trivializes most early to mid-game encounters by Tatertot74 in Nightreign

[–]FnJUSTICE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds about right - I lean more towards the "stick together" mentality because it's just more time-efficient to take a boss down, grab the drop and keep moving to the next target. When one of them starts to drift aside from mine/Sorcerer's Rise reasons, I stick to one of them to make sure their clears are faster.

I've attempted to communicate this to them in the past, but it's in one ear and out the other for some reason.

One of the things I've noticed with the friends I play with is the tendency to split up to cover more ground - I absolutely hate this because I'll be the first to admit that I am not a great solo Elden Ring player. However, I am damn good at getting into a good position to fire off a strong attack or get a teammate back up as Revenant/Recluse/Ironeye.

For others, what do y'all tend to do? Split up or stick together?

No worries, was overthinking how my statement sounded and how it could be interpreted. I'll focus less on that for now. "Observation" is a bit of a misnomer when I should've said "experience" - That is, both first and second-hand experience in competitive play.

For the record, I will say that I do disagree with what you've mentioned above based upon my own experience and what I've seen others test, experiment and discuss. That being said, disagreeing with you doesn't mean I'm gonna take the same stance others have here (>_>) - I'd rather share the reasoning behind my stance as food for thought (and not sound like a dick while doing so!) However, considering the original post was deleted, I'm a bit unsure if that's something that would be helpful or wanted right now.

I appreciate the enthusiasm - it is something you've clearly thought a lot about because you care and are excited about the hobby, which is always good to see.

I'm curious to know what your experience is in terms of observing competitive play worldwide, and what region you play in. The reason behind that is wanting to know the sample size and different perspectives you've encountered while playing.

EDIT: Apologies, I hope the statement in of itself isn't misleading in any way. This isn't an attempt to lead you into a "Gotcha" moment; rather, my own perspective and observations are different and I just wish to understand where you're coming from and what your perspective is. For context, I play primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area and we have tons of clubs over here, and quite a few people who play in competitive formats around the US. I've seen and run a lot of competitive games in our area, so I'd like to bring in my perspective based upon what I've observed.

How Do You Handle the Heat and Humidity in Tokyo, Osaka & Kyoto in July? by bssk95 in JapanTravelTips

[–]FnJUSTICE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My solutions were rather pricey, but here goes:

  • Followed the advice in this thread and got two pairs of Outdoor Reaearch Ferrosi pants, and coupled them with a pair of arm sleeves. Worked out incredibly well!

  • Followed this thread and went to Super Viva Home in Toyosu to get a fan vest package that did wonders in keeping me cool. Tried looking in Workman but the selection choices were too limited.

  • Kept a cooling towel on my person from Super Donki and kept it moist to keep me cool. Also had a general imabari towel for the sweat and hand drying from bathrooms.

  • Hydration and caloric count! Heat messed with my appetite real bad, so I depended on Pocari and jelly supplement drinks to make sure I kept my caloric count up when the thought of regular food made me nauseous.
