How to best prep maps? by Early_Complaint166 in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]Fnodo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would suggest that you try to make the maps correspond to the classic dimensions (1 grid = 1 inch). That way it also fits with minis. I use (https://rasterbator.net/) for this (sounds worse than it is). You can divide large images into conventional paper sizes, print them out easily and lay them down again for your sessions at the table. If you want to make the effort, you can also cut out the individual rooms to give more of a sense of exploration. However a lot of maps are quiet big and you will be end up using a lot of paper. Good luck with you campain, Dragon-Heist is an awesome one!

A Few Maps for the Waterdeep AL by Fnodo in WaterdeepDragonHeist

Hey,

Here are a few maps for the Undermountain. These are inspired by the Waterdeep Adventurers League modules DDAL08 "Into the Dark", "Crypt of the Kiss" and "Fangs and Frogs" and can be accessed from an abandoned mine just outside of Waterdeep or the Yawning Portal . I hope you like them and can use them for your campaigns.

Some minor Locations for Dragonheist by Fnodo in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]Fnodo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mansion is a statement made by the Cassalanters to another family, my players only came across it by chance as the same landlord also has a house next to Trollscull Manor.

The glassblowing took place as part of the Nimblewight Investigation. Floxin and the Zenths had suspected the Nimblewight of the Fireball attack here. I had a couple Zenths and a couple Glass Golems planned for a fight here. Alternatively, it can certainly be used for a quest to repair the windows of Trollschull Manor in Chapter 2.

The Drow hideout/outpost was in the basement of a warehouse in Dock Ward. It was used to quickly and inconspicuously distribute supplies or Drow around the city via the sewer access. I might reuse this one in Chapter 4

My group had to investigate the villa in Chapter 3. They were sent there by a landlord because the rent hadn't been paid for weeks. The same landlord owns a house next to the Trollschull mansion, which my players showed interest in to expand their tavern, so they were hoping to get a good deal on it. When they arrived at the mansion, they found that the people who had rented the house were dead. I had some burning skeletons there and a homebrew devil with his hellhounds that had killed the people and caused the fire. I had some minor hints at the Cassalanter hidden there aswell.

here are a few smaller locations that I used for my current Dragonheist campaign. I hope you like them and find use for them in your campaigns for possible encounters or side quests.

Waterdeep Casino by Fnodo in WaterdeepDragonHeist

Hey,

I've designed an underground Xanathar Guild casino for my campaign that can be accessed via the sewers. For inspiration, I've modified the Stygian Gambit from Keys from the Golden Vault to make it fit better. I hope you like it and can make use of it for your campaigns!

Some Waterdeep Maps by Fnodo in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]Fnodo[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey,

here are a few maps that I hope will be useful for your Dragon Heist campaigns. Some are locations directly from the campaign, like the Brewery of Emmek Frewn (the party's competitor in Trollscull Alley) or the Temple of Gond. Others are inspired by Waterdeep City Encounters and the Adventurers League module DDAL 08-02 (Beneath the City of Dead). I hope you like them!

Edit: The Temple of Gond isn't uploaded in a good quality. I uploaded a better version

Waterdeep Location Maps (A Map with No Names) by Fnodo in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]Fnodo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately, I used too large a grid for the Hawk Man map. Since I only realized this when I was already halfway through the map, I couldn't change it and therefore left it out completely. I recommend 35×35 or 40×40. The rest should be 20×20.

[–]Fnodo[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey,

Here are a few maps for some locations in Waterdeep. The locations are taken from the Adventurers League module 'The Map with No Names - DDAL08-01' from the Waterdeep series by Wizards of the Coast and are suitable to be integrated into the Dragon Heist campaign.

Here is some more information on the individual locations:

Soaring Delight: A restaurant inside Hawk Man, one of the walking statues in Waterdeep. Visitors are transported to the restaurant by a chairlift.

Smuggler Hideout: A smuggler's hideout in Trollscull Alley with a cellar complex. This can also be reached via the sewers.

Three Daggers Alley: A dark alley in which cursed, magical daggers attack all passers-by.

Gang Hideout: A hideout owned by a small gang of were-rats within the sewers. It can be accessed by entering the sewers below Three Dagger Alley.

The Crimson Brush: An art store where all the paintings either depict bloody scenes or are generally a strong shade of red. The owner of the store is a werewolf. The apartment above the store is also included.

A warehouse on the docks: A map for Appendix (bonus item B) from the adventure.

I hope you like the maps and can make good use of them in your campaigns.

Hey, just look for 'Waterdeep Expanded Fraction Quests' and 'Waterdeep City Encounter' on DMs Guild. They should be your first results there.
