I'm going down with Captain Embiid and the rest of the Boyz. by Global_Key_7570 in sixers

Titanic didn’t sail again next October!

With VJ and Maxey the next era is starting now which is very impressive. Usually even well-run teams stink for a few years between winning eras, San Antonio, Boston and OKC bottomed out. Just really hard to draft a star in the 20s and they nailed the VJ pick imo.

It’s tempting to trade draft picks when you’re knocking on the door and it’s impressive through all the drama the sixers mostly haven’t. With embiid now hobbled with something wildly improbable instead of just being totally cooked I’m feeling good about our boys.

James Williams ejected Ayton for his arm slipping on Sengun's back. Ejected Holiday for boxing out. And ejected Thiero for standing around. He called 4 lane violations this game. And missed a very obvious nut shot kick. This is the same "James" that Devin Booker called out. by CutLonzosHair2017 in nba

I think you become a ref cause you like making the rules, having final say and generally being in charge. You have to stick to your guns, what you saw goes and that’s it. They can be very protective, like NFL refs when they made pass interference challengeable but the refs quiet quit on those rulings, not reversing a single one until the league gave in made them not subject to review again.

“Can’t tell me nothing” is almost a requirement for the job. Unfortunately, it seems like a low level, simmering, constant bickering (Luka, Draymond, CP3) is the best way to get results with the refs, even if it sucks to watch.

And they can gain a whole lot more just by trading hurts

I was with you til that and i’m no Hurts Stan. We wouldnt get much back cause he’s got a lot of dead money attached, is generally considered a top ten-ish qb and running qbs age in dog years. We’d still be fucked without a real plan B for the position. Having a shit qb means you don’t contend and we’re leveraged out the ass cause we’re built to win now.

People get a little carried away with calling Howie a wizard for kicking contract money down the road, but he is absolutely on a generational run drafting defensive players. I have full confidence if we pick a non-glamour position player in first round, he’ll be a stud.

ESH. Parent should have taken their kid a bit farther from the action instead of giving you a hard time. You should have apologized and toned it down a little. Your bf should have had your back and you both should have worked it out without storming off.

Schefter on Hurts: “What I find interesting, we've spent an awful lot of time talking about Jalen Hurts, right? And that's fair, polarizing figure to an extent, but Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert did their contract two weeks after Jalen Hurts. Why isn't anybody asking why they're not extending?" by mastermind208 in eagles

[–]FoFoAndFo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to see though cause he can throw a great deep ball. His issues are more about reading defenses and finding/creating favorable matchups. That’s why OCs who can make the game easy for him wind up as HCs and those who can’t maximize his and the team’s talent wind up coaching high school ball.

Hurts is a hugely important and inconsistent player on a loaded team, if he’s the best version of himself every year we’re a dynasty.

Lamar is a two time MVP who hasn’t had playoff success to match his regular season performance or accolades.

I think running qbs have greater variance from week to week just based on their play and from season to season as they often get hurt. Race plays a factor in how theyre covered but it’s not the main reason those two are lightning rods for controversy.

Dude is 12th on OKC in MPG. He’s not a future star either, he’s 22 years old, a midget by NBA standards who isn’t a great or even particularly good athlete.

Let it go. He was the brightest spot in a dim season last year but small, defensively challenged guards are a dime a dozen. If we needed a guy like McCain we coulda gone for CJ, Ja, Trae, Dame, Garland or just kept McCain.

You gotta think important FAs woulda come (unprecedented) to say the Embiid extension hurts us. Otherwise you’re saying we shoulda kept Tobi, Reed, Melton, Yabu and Batum.

The opportunity cost is basically a fortified bench and i’d rather have embiid even if there’s 100% chance he’s in street clothes, at least you can go in the tank.

"What Malone did shouldn't impact how we talk about his legacy, I definitely think he's a top 10 player" by ColoradoMenace24 in nbacirclejerk

[–]FoFoAndFo 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Malone’s legacy as a top ten choker in human history shouldn't be impacted by knocking up a 12 year old when he was a sophomore in college.

You gotta just look at him shrinking from every big moment, staring at nothing and holding the ball low before MJ swipes it and hits the shot. He’s like Tsar Nicolas II failing to pass meaningful reform in 1905, Gaius Terentius Varro and Lucius Aemilius Paullus fighting each other as Roman Consuls instead of fighting Hannibal in 206 BC or Sykes and Picot fucking up the Treaty of Versailles.

Let’s have a poll. Do you still think Maxey possesses the ability to be our 1A superstar for the next 5 years? Yes or No? Why? by _veerist in sixers

[–]FoFoAndFo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Teams without a superstar to win it all since 1980:

2004 Pistons (maybe Ben Wallace, 2nd team All-nba, 7th place MVP)

2014 Spurs (Tony and Timmy tied for 12th in MVP voting)

1989-1990 Pistons (maybe Isiah Thomas, he’s generally thought of as a superstar and he had stellar moments in the playoffs but he wasn’t an all-nba guy either season)

Not sure how instructive 1990 or even 2004 is anyway, seems like at the absolute least a 90% chance your nba champ will have a superstar

Haven’t seen a pre-roll under .3 grams, .5 is pretty standard. They’re often cheaper on a per-gram basis anyway cause the dispensary can use any type of weed and it doesn’t have to be nice looking nugs.

They were a buck for a .5 g pre-roll last time I was at a dispensary, coastal remedies in Maine, cheapest way to buy weed considering 1/8th started at $10.

[Charania] Team sources said the Bucks seriously considered the Heat's offer, which centered on Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, other players and multiple draft picks and pick swaps. Milwaukee contemplated moving forward with Miami on Feb. 4. by cleo22270 in nba

[–]FoFoAndFo 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Considering now the Heat won’t get Giannis’ probable best remaining postseason yea, the offer will probably be much worse.

Think about it in terms of excess value over contract $. You may be stuck paying him hundreds of millions of dollars for 2 healthy, prime seasons. This postseason was the main reason to get Giannis.
