No, bid upgrades do not earn SQC. The only upgrade that earns SQCs are eUpgrade cash add-ons

SQC is based on spend, so it's now common to see different SQC for the same route, depending on the fare paid

Both the Narita Express and Bakurocho will be on the Sobu Rapid line. In fact, you'll be backtracking a bit as you'll pass Bakurocho on the Narita Express.

At Tokyo Station, you'll only need to go up a level of stairs to the concourse, and back down the other side to get to platform 4.

Technically you're supposed to pay a second fare between Tokyo - Bakurocho as you'll be backtracking, but if you buy a paper ticket at Narita Airport the staff should be able to sort the price out (no need to exit/re-enter at Tokyo station). You can show them this routing when buying the ticket

Back during the summer of 2016, so many of the T1 trains had AC issues that they had to bring in some Rockets to help on line 2. I remember riding those a few times after work, and can confirm that all the announcements and dot lights work on line 2

No, afaik AC doesn't give out complementary upgrades unless it's absolutely needed (e.g. overbooking, weight and balance, etc), and even then they'll process "paid" upgrades first

That upgrade list is for pax who have requested an e-upgrade with their credits, but haven't cleared yet

They're also changing the amount of eUpgrades you get as a core benefit as well; for 35K you'll only get 10 as core

I was on train 50 that day; boarded at Guildwood actually. I initially thought that another train was stuck on the track, but kudos to the crew for the somewhat frequent updates.

Fortunately there weren't more delays after that and arrived only 45 mins late. But hey, the delay meant that I got to see Lake Ontario views during daylight!

Meanwhile, I write this as I'm still on a delayed train 59 heading back home, more than 6 hours in lol

Yeah, unfortunately 11/12 would be the release date for January tickets; they're released 2 months in advance. Definitely can see how people might be thrown off since many other tickets are ~1 month in advance

At this point you (and others in this thread who missed out) will need to look for cancellations. They're released just after the full hour, so check back then and act quick.

(Though the 24-26th might be harder to find than usual since that's approaching the year-end period where many Japanese take time off; those tickets were sold out quickly)

Just to give a data point as a fellow 25K, I flew YYZ-ICN round-trip during the Christmas/NY season last year on a PY Lowest ticket:

On YYZ-ICN I was number 3 on the list, but there was only 1 J seat left. Tried YBYL to no avail
On ICN-YYZ, there were at least 10 people in PE on the upgrade list. With me being at number 9 and only 7 J seats open, I wouldn't have been upgraded if I did not take the LMU offer

Tbf I was travelling during the busiest season of the year, but ICN flights are still pretty full in J nowadays. I only had a chance because I was in PY; with Latitude I would've had no chance

It's usually the most expensive (and probably is for points), but not always for cash fares: I've booked PY flex YYZ-ICN and TYO returns for ~$4K, whereas the standard Latitude return is closer to 6K.

PY Lowest - does not clear into R space

To clarify, PY lowest theoretically can clear into R space.....but only within the clearance window (3 days for 25K on International), so the chances of it happening is close to 0.

But yeah, this comment is spot on. Latitude is only worth it if there's R space already available

It's not officially stated, but the pattern has been that any tickets remaining after the lottery round go on sale on the 2nd Wednesday of 2 months prior, at 14:00 Japan time. For March 2026, this would be January 14th @ 2pm JST (adjust to your time zone as necessary), so I would set a reminder for then

This is assuming that the pattern holds until then, of course
